Hell yeah!

If they come up here to the Bay I'm definitely gonna be there for at least 1 show.

Today is the anniversary of Spanish Fork accidentally booking Rage Against The Machine and everyone losing their minds

I was at this show and it was crazy af.

There was legitimate angst when they came out....concerts back then were violent and crazy. Today, most just fucking stand there with their dumb phones.

Local lore holds that the city mistakenly allowed Rage Against the Machine to play because they mistook the name for a monster-truck rally or a tractor pull.

edit: I also like how it goes on to note that It caused the city to ban concerts. Oh... and the show happened with no incidents.

It was a total fuck up. Spanish Fork is a tiny, rural, farm-type shit hole in the middle of BFE. They totally thought it was a monster truck rally, despite whatever the town says. I remember it being labeled as such.

It's honestly surprising there were no incidents. The "venue" was nowhere near big enough, nor equipped to handle one of the biggest and most rowdy bands in the country at the time.

Spanish Fork is like Provo's less attractive sister.

They did go on to spark a riot that got the democratic national convention locked down. So I guess a small Utah town fearing the worst isn’t too unreasonable.

Oh they were terrified. It was all the talk at the time. Pretty much all the residents acted like it was the zombie apocalypse en shit. Just short of boarding up windows en shit.

I remember thinking, why in the holy fuck are they playing in fucking Spanish Fork, ffs!? I thought it was just them trying to fuck with Utah/mormons, which in hindsight, it probably was. Lulz

Awww, don’t be sad @Guns N Guitars , I saw My Chemical Romance is getting back together too, so you won’t be left out.

who knows, with a little luck, maybe the gin blossoms/collective soul tour will come back.

So, obviously Prophets of Rage is disbanding. They had an album in the works though; does it still come out?

Will RATM actually record, or is this just a cash-grab reunion tour?

Chuck D and B-Real are already on record saying 'it was fun while it lasted'. No update I've seen on the album. My guess is the album gets shelved. Maybe they release a single or EP.

As of right now, I'm figuring this is situation mirroring System of a Down... They want to get together, do some shows together and see if any sparks fly.

They’ve done this a few times in the 20ish years since they broke up. They’ll come back for a few shows and a festival, everyone gets excited, and that’s it.

If you want to see them, definitely make it to Coachella or one of the other few shows they’ve announced, I doubt we’ll see any more than that come out.

They aren’t gonna do another album. Or if they do it’ll be a complete 180 from their previous feelings on the thing.

I’d be happy with a full tour. A new album would be amazing, but of the four albums they did, two are absolute masterpieces, one is 4/5 stars, and one is a cool collection of covers. Just tour on that, please.

You couldn't pay me to go to Coachella.

I have no desire to see RATM is some giant fucking sports stadium either.

I've seen them twice in their heyday....I have no strong urge to see them again. Maybe if they put out a new album, but I don't think they'll ever recapture that lightning in a bottle. The timing of it all can not be reproduced.

The thought of cochella makes me cringe, but I would go just the see them. One of my alltime favorite bands.

I just have a feeling the shows will be all bloated and in huge venues. I loathe seeing a concert in a sports venue. I will make an exception here and there, if they are living legends, but if I have seen them twice already, it most likely would not be worth it to me.

Plus I live in BFE, so I would likely have to travel to see it.

I can't do Coachella. Too many fucking queerdos, too much dust, and generally just too big. I hate being so far away from the bands, that it could be the roadies up there playing and you'd never know.

I saw them at Lollapolooza in '93. They were relatively new still and not that many folks knew of them. They were on the main stage, but the crowd was pretty small. They were great.

Tangential....I just looked at the lollapolooza lineup for 2019...Holy fuck, what happened to that festival!? The headliners? Ariana Grande!? The Strokes!? What in the actual fuck?

93 lineup...Primus, Alice in Chains, Rage, Tool....2019...Ariana fucking Grande.

Wow.
