Will Boston pony up $300m??

San Francisco seems like they need a superstar... Would they part with Alex Wood, Mike Yastrzemski, and any infielder?

No the Red Sox will not pony up the $300 million and YES they will mess up and NOT trade him and let him walk in FA and get nothing

Devers to the Giants is almost inevitable. The Giants have swung and missed a lot this winter.

Considering I don't see the Red Sox resigning him this would be the best move.. With that said... I have about a 1-2% chance that A: the Red Sox would trade him or B: Red Sox are smart enough to get a quality haul for him

If Yaz had any other name than the one on the back of his jersey, he would be nothing more than a journeyman OFer likely fielding NRI offers from middling teams.

But because of the name on the back of his jersey, people seem to think he is a good player.

If you want a trade centered on Yaz and Wood, than maybe even the Giants would do enough to get that one done.

But they would probably say OK, then MAYBE call you back in a week to plan a meeting in 2 months to finalize it.

The concept of the trade makes sense. I could see something centered around Casey Schmitt. I would hate to lose Schmitt, but he is our future 3B, so if we were to acquire Devers, including him makes sense.

I believe he would break out at Fenway …

maybe

He has a good glove. He is a passable CF and a good RF. But his bat is SUPER over-rated.

But Devers is essentially a 1-year rental. And the Giants aren’t 1 player away from being a contender, so giving up Schmitt for 1 year of Devers doesn’t really make a lot of sense. But I would think the Sox would demand either Schmitt or Luciano in return for a player like Devers.

What’s it going to take to get it done? Phil’s farm is kind of light but at the top end they have 3 pitching prospects in Painter, Abel, McGarry that people seem to like. I’d be willing to ship one of those arms, Alec Bohm, and two more prospects that aren’t these top arms nor Crawford their recent draft pick.

I'm shocked you didn't throw Rhys Hoskins into the mix.
