Look up Anderson ranch gundogs. You don't need to look any farther for a dog trainer.

Nothing wrong with GSP's but I like English Pointers. To each his own kind of thing.

I said trainer, not breeder. Like I said, you don't need to look any farther for a trainer.

Went Saturday for half a day moved six nice 20-25 bird coveys. Got in a big covey of Blue Quail that had a hen Pheasant with them. Kind or weird. Went today on a half section of thick cover and moved four coveys. Hunted about three hours. I sure thought we would see more birds. All the trail cams at deer feeders showed 15-20 birds. Must have missed them.

Quail are a fine eatin quarry...could you share a recipe or three about how you like to consume these birds. Super Bowl Sunday now and I have to think these birds might not make it in the freezer through today.

Tanks

I think I will stick with the guy that trains English Pointers and has three N.C.
Thanks for the advice.

My favorite is to book them and season them up and grill them. My mom take the legs and puts them in a black skillet with butter and garlic and then does the breast just like fried chicken. Mashed taters and biscuits and gravy.

What does "book them" mean? Is that like putting multiple quail on a skewer together and grilling them?

I have not heard that cooking term before.

You cut the bones where they will lay flat. Google it they will show you. Lets it cook al the way through without drying them out as bad.

Some folks call it a butterfly cut.

You just cut down the ribs so it will lay flat.

Whatever you say. Horseback trialing is a very different game from wild bird hunting.

Who said anything about horseback ?:L

I have had three dogs from this kennel and all have been good walking dogs. Funny all I have ever hunted in the 40 plus years is wild birds.

It is going to be fun that the guy who has trained some dogs I have owned gets to come over and hunt.

Easy guy. We're all bird dog guys in here. I made an assumption. My bad. I'm sure you'll love your trainer. Just throwing out an option for an outstanding trainer not too far from you.

Always fun when you get to show your dogs off to your trainer.

Good day yesterday, 8 coveys fron 1:00 till dusk. A hard headed dog I have yesterday decided he was going to start retrieving to hand. He had only a few days work on hunting dead but I guess it stuck.

North of Amarillo along the Canadian. I also have a place East of Amarillo close to Okie line.
