UPDATED 4/6 Matteau, 2a, Merrill 1g,

Two of our most touted prospects turned Pro in the last week by joining Albany:

Boucher:
GP:3 2g, 2a

Merrill:
GP:4 1g, 5a

Severson (WHL, CAN JR): Team was down 0-3 in the first round of the CHL playoffs and came all the way back to win 4-3. Severson was our 2nd round pick last year, and many people (Lou included) were shocked that he was available that late in the draft. Note: He didn't get a dedicated threat made by yours truly this season, but this kid is REALLY REALLY GOOD. In fact, he easily measures up to Merrill in terms of our top D prospects.

GP:7 1g, 7a +3

Matteau: His team won in 5. He's obviously getting back in stride with his teammates.
GP:6 1g, 4a

Goaltending is really hard to evaluate.

Kinkaid has a nice season last year, and Frazee had a really, really good season this year.

Wedgewood, and Clermont are both in the ECHL, mainly because the two senior goaltenders are in the AHL blocking them. The ECHL is notorious for heinous defense, so it's hard to judge their stats.

D is unbelievably deep.

Larsson obv graduated from the prospects pool instantly

Merrill
Severson

Reece Scarlett who hasn't even been mentioned yet, is a really great offensive threat apparently.
Then you still have Gelinas, who is our closest offensive dman in regards to NHL readiness
Urbom is apparently becoming an excellent stay at home dman.
Helgeson just left college to sign an AHL tryout. He's supposed to be good too.

Merrill had his first pro goal tonight. 1G in a pretty stinging Albany loss (they're just out of the playoffs as of this writing) Obviously getting in would be great for some of the kids in the organization.

Thanks for the update, I don't follow any of our prospects at all, seems like we have a few keepers on D. Do any of them have a shot at making the team next year? Or are they still real young?

Urbom. He's been in the AHL three seasons now I believe and frankly would have already been on the team if we hadn't had that one shitty two months and drafted Larsson. Larsson basically jumped him in the order of young d-men. Lemaire thought that he was one of the best young dmen he's seen when he had him in camp at age 19.

This is why we don't have scorers on our roster. Good D is big part of success, but we'd never win if we don't score. And we don't. 1 goal in 2 games. WTF Lou is thinking. Trade 2D + 2F for 2 good scoring forwards. Prospects can be included too.

We should start talking about free agency. But not with Lou - he wouldn't listen. So it would be only between fans.

JR had an assist tonight, and now has 3G, 5A and is a +3 in 9 playoff games.
