Here are the top 10 TV markets for the race at Pocono on 8/3/14
Greenville, SC
Greensboro, NC
Birmingham, AL
Indianapolis, IN
Richmond, VA
Norfolk, VA
Knoxville, TN
Raleigh, NC
Charlotte, NC
Nashville, TN

Nascar is a south eastern thing. Always has been, always will be. Get the fuck out of California, Nevada and Arizona where the attendance is shit, and get back to your bread and butter: Darlington, Rockingham, etc.

Too many mile and a half tracks on the circuit that has made the racing boring.. no track should more than 1 race a year and if they do have more than 1 race a year.. make it every other year that they have 2 races a year.. switch up the tracks that have The Chase and it definitely needs to have a road course race in the Chase format.. this may not solve all the problem of boring races.. it might help though

I don't care if they go to the west coast or not, but the Rock needs to be back on the schedule. It's a unique track with 1 end like Richmond turn and the other end like Bristol. That track is awesome. Of all the things Nascar has done over the past 15 years, removing that race really pisses me off.

Nascar.. or should I say.. Brian France.. has forgotten where its roots are.. they're more worried about which track can hold the most fans.. the Rock only holds about 60,000.. kinda hard to compete with the newer cookie-cutter tracks that hold at least 75,000 - 100,000 fans.. if these tracks aren't sold out.. they'll still draw in more than what the Rock would have done as a sell-out.. doesn't make it right though

I don't mind west coast races if the tracks produce quality races.

Las Vegas and Phoenix actually have pretty good attendance and the races are good. Sonoma is a road course, not a very good one, but still a road course.

I wouldn't mind ditching Fontana though and either give Rockingham a race or give Darlington a second race.

Darlington is hands down my favorite track. I really don't like how early in the season they run the Southern 500, and I really don't like the fact that it's a night race.

If a tradition is bad, then change it, but I think the Southern 500 on Labor Day weekend was a damn good tradition.

I don't mind the western part of the country as much as I do the expansion into the midwest and northeast.

I don't think of places like New Hampshire, Michigan and Chicago as NASCAR markets. And Indianapolis is a great racing town, but the Brickyard is meant for open wheeled racing end of story. If NASCAR wants to race in Indianapolis, they should race at the old short track that the trucks and Busch Series used to race at.

I would love it if Fontana got ditched. For me, that race is always a pain to watch, just like the Michigan races. I'm just glad they put it on the schedule early on and get it out of the way. I unfortunately didn't start watching until a year or two after Rockingham got booted off the schedule. I would think having at least 1 race there a year wouldn't be too much to ask.

I do agree with you about how Darlington is also very early in the schedule. That is definitely one of my favorite races to watch and wouldn't object to that one taking the Labor Day weekend race that Atlanta has. However, I do like that it's a night race. In my opinion, it gives it a more special feel.

Seems a lot of tracks are resorting to taking out seats to look better on TV rather than lowering ticket prices to draw more fans back to the track

Yeah, most tracks used to have the fans packed in like sardines. Now they are turning 3 seats into 2.

Yep. Always a wild race and many memories of Labor Day bbq's while watching it.

I don't mind the northern tracks, especially since I live up here now. I'm not far from Pocono, Dover, and Loudon. But they're nothing like when I lived near Darlington, Charlotte, & Rockingham.

I agree with you on Chicago and New Hampshire, but Michigan is where the Big 3 are. I wouldn't mind them dropping it to one race a year though.

I can agree with that.

I will say Michigan has been better since the repave, but still not one of NASCAR's better tracks.

Yep, this makes sense from the perspective of the manufacturers of the brands (except for Toyota) that race in NSACAR as well as all of the associated auto-related markets.

The problem with west coast tracks. They are all cookie cutter tracks, sans Sonoma. Mile and a half, boring crap. Whoever decided that this was the way to go should have been fired.

NASCAR fans want variety of tracks that are equal. And track construction has not delivered.

I wouldn't really say Phoenix and Auto Club are cookie cutters. I don't mind watching the Phoenix races but those races at Auto Club Speedway are usually cures for insomnia.

But a 1/2 mile or a 3/4 mile track out west would have been awesome. But NOOOO!

Do agree with that. I'd love to see a Richmond type track out west somewhere that they could race at.
