Hopefully it is the sophomore jinx but he has mostly been MIA this year.

Along with Matt Jones Preston was my favorite Redskins rookie. Can't believe both have fallen off this year?

I would hope we learned something from the development of TM...PS showed far more promise as a rookie than TM up until this season.

Can somebody please explain this guy to me. Every year he has one game where he looks like a perennial PB player. Then disappears for 15 other games. I don't get it.

Naw, don't buy it. If he was game to game, or series to series, maybe.

Possibly. he played a bunch today. He might be the kind that needs a bunch of reps to get into the flow.
I read something somewhere about him being possibly being moved around or dropped into coverage too much when he's better utilized getting after it. :noidea: I don't know X and O's well enough to say myself.

Redskins.com One-On-One: Preston Smith

We need him to step it up and be a man!!

This likely will be the most interesting unit to watch on the Redskins this season. Will Smith improve? Can Gallette contribute or is he done? Will Anderson contribute in a big way? Can Brown make an impact & help a unit that has been woeful against the run? A lot of questions here, and again I would caution about coming to conclusions early in the season - could take a while to get a true judgment off this unit & the overall defense.

Actually he started off like gangbusters with a big sack and 2 for fum against Mia in the 2015 opener. The next 12 weeks though he did alright tackle-wise, defensed a pass or 2, but only picked up 2 sacks. The last 3 weeks of the season is where he blew up with a sack against Buff, 3 sacks and a for fum against Philly, which was his 2nd start of the season, and finished up with a sack against Dallas. He also opened up the scoring for the Skins in the postseason with a sack for a safety against GB/Rodgers.

So he had a really strong month of football I'd say, not just one game, albeit the Philly game was huge. That's the way it can go with pass rushers, but no question. With the way he finished 15, I was lookingh/hoping for bigger things from him in 16. Both you and dad are on point though far as 16. He only had one big game in 16, pretty freakin huge actually as I don't know if the Skins beat Minny w/o Smith's big plays that day.

Its rubber hits the road time for an OLB this year I think. Smith has been penciled in as a starter so he really has it up on TM, especially if he comes out the gate hard. If he doesn't though and TM makes things happen the last 12 weeks...who knows?

Are you referring to Trent Murphy? If so - he is out for the whole season w/ a knee injury. Still a lot of talent at the LB position - should be fun to watch this unfold.

Oppsy daisy. my bad.

For real though. I forgot all about Trent's injury.

Apparently I picked a bad time to stop doing cocaine.
