Wichita State is about to start life in the American, UCLA just defeated Washington State despite being short-handed, and College Gameday will soon be leaving the cold football stadiums and entering the warm basketball courts.
Yep, it's that part of the season where CBB teams steel themselves for battle and hope they'll still be standing in time for the conference tournaments.

Along with all that, there'll be questions to be answered. Like, "Will Arizona State keep surprising people?", "Does TCU really deserve that Top 10 ranking?", and most importantly "Is this stupid polar snap in the Northeast EVER going to end?!" Answers to these and much more is to come...

December 30th (Games outside of the Top 25)

These are the types of posts you're gonna see from me on a Saturday. Why, you ask? Because after what happened in the Washington/USC game, you guys need to know that unranked match-ups matter, too.
Anyway, here's what to watch while you're NOT preoccupied with the big game in Fort Worth today: (All times are Eastern)

Georgia Tech @ Notre Dame (2:00)
UMass @ St. Bonaventure (2:30)
NC State @ Clemson (4:00)
Saint Mary's @ BYU (4:00)

Evansville @ Loyola-Chicago (4:00)
Towson @ Charleston (4:00)
Georgetown @ Marquette (4:30)
Temple @ Houston (6:00)
Boise State @ UNLV (11:00)

Great day of basketball.

With the freezing temperatures in NYC, I could stay in bed and watch great games all day

The day college basketball went nuts

After a crazy Saturday, I could bore you with listing the scores of each game just to bore you. But now we're entering 2018 with NO UNDEFEATED TEAMS! I think the above article will do a better job of explaining it.

Even with no undefeated teams, I disagree that there are no great teams this year. Michigan State is the most talented I have ever seen them, and that not only includes the team just a couple years ago that was the betting favorite to win it all, but also the tournament championship team and the other final 4 teams they've had over the years. Not only is it the deepest team they've had, but the most talented at the top too. Bridges could be playing in the NBA right now and he would have gotten minutes too.

And they already got beat by Duke who's best player missed like half the game.

OK State isn't that great this year so ISU might win there next game

But at the same time looking at ISU schedule I really don't know when they win a Big12 game

I don't know about you guys but I'm really excited for conference play. I agree that there are no dominant teams this year but several teams in my mind are VERY good. Michigan State is extremely talented. We all know how good Duke can be. Villanova is great again. Their loss to Butler doesn't concern me. Butler always plays Nova tough. How many ACC teams can get in the big dance this year? Can Oklahoma and Trae Young dethrone Kansas as Big 12 champions? Just how bad is the Big Ten? Can A&M beat out Kentucky for the SEC championship? Don't forget about Arkansas and Tennessee. Florida will be right there too once their big man returns. Can surprise top 25 teams such as Arizona State, TCU, Texas Tech, Seton Hall, FSU, and Clemson survive conference play.

We'll find out real quick about Texas Tech. They get Kansas tonight.

One team to watch in the ACC is Florida State.

They've opened 1-1 in the league. Losing to Duke by 7 in Cameron and beating
UNC 81-80 at home.

Their first 6 games are...@ Duke (L) 93-100, vs UNC (W) 81-80, @ Miami
vs Louisville, vs Syracuse and @ Bost Coll. If they can open 4-2 vs that
bevy of teams they could contend for the title.

I believe whomever wins the ACC this year will have a minimum of 3 conf
losses and possibly 4. There's not many breathers in the league this year.

I mean, they could contend for the title even if they didn't go 4-2 in that stretch. The ACC champion is determined at the ACC Tournament in March, not during the regular season.

January 6th (Games outside of the Top 25)

Here in Central New York, it's now -7 degrees. Needless to say, I'm staying put at home while watching all of the good CBB action today.

And outside of the national rankings, we have THESE important games to look at: (All times are Eastern)

Illinois @ Michigan (12:00)
Alabama @ Georgia (12:00)
Creighton @ Georgetown (12:00)
Florida @ Missouri (1:00)
Texas @ Baylor (2:00)

Notre Dame @ Syracuse (3:15)
Washington @ Washington State (4:00)
Iowa State @ Oklahoma State (4:00)
Mississippi State @ Ole Miss (4:30)
Jacksonville State @ Belmont (6:00)
UMBC @ Vermont (7:00)
Western Kentucky @ Marshall (7:00)
Boise State @ Wyoming (8:00)
Northern Colorado @ Montana (9:00)
San Diego @ Saint Mary's (11:00)

Oh, and as for that Oklahoma @ West Virginia game... I wouldn't be surprised if WVU won it 89-87. In overtime.

January 13th- Games outside of the rankings

So here in Central New York, it was 60 degrees and raining yesterday. Then last night, it was 37 degrees with sleet. Now after about 5 inches of snow, it's now 20 degrees and about to plummet to -8 degrees tonight.

Kinda like college basketball this season: Odd, confusing, but for the most part, surprisingly entertaining. And it's only gonna get worse with games like these going on today: (All times are Eastern)

St. Bonaventure @ Rhode Island (11:00 A.M)
Florida @ Ole Miss (1:00)
UConn @ Tulane (1:00)
Miami-Ohio @ Buffalo (2:00)
Virginia Tech @ Louisville (4:00)
Bradley @ Loyola-Chicago (4:00)
Texas @ Oklahoma State (5:00)
Austin Peay @ Jacksonville State (5:30)
Missouri @ Arkansas (6:00)
Texas Southern @ Grambling (6:30)
Marshall @ Old Dominion (7:00)
Stanford @ Washington (8:00)
Murray State @ Tennessee Tech (8:30)
UC-Davis @ CS-Fullerton (9:00)
San Diego State @ Boise State (10:00)
