former pessimistic homer
Bengals 24
Lions 23
This is a close matchup. It's another day where the Bengals need to run the ball. The Detroit dline loves to rush the passer, and if we get into must throw situations it could get ugly. The weakness of the Lions' defense has been vs the run. They give up 5.4 yards per carry right now, and to support those stats their linebackers all have negative PFF grades vs the run. They are solid in pass coverage though, and that combined with their pass rush could negate passes to TEs and Gio, though we absolutely must get the ball to Gio in space and give him a chance to break a couple. If we can establish BJGE inside though, they'll have to respect play action and that will help us in the passing game. Defensively, we must contain Reggie Bush and play our normal solid pass defense. Stafford is getting rid of the ball quickly, and the only question in the passing game is the health of Megatron. Even at less than 100% he's extremely dangerous and is a physical mismatch for our corners. This one could really go either way, but the homer in me just couldn't predict a loss, though one would not surprise me.
