I assume you mean NFL-level as in someone who can lead a team to a winning record. Jimmy ain't great and he will never be great, but the Niners would be on this list if they didn't luck into keeping someone they were working very hard to trade away.

Tua can't throw the ball over 20 yards according to most NFL tall foreheads out there but leads the NFL in passing.....this must be the twilight zone or something. I have no idea how this is possible.... :noidea:

Today's NFL is completely built for QB's to succeed. Tua should have a decent year.

Agreed and from Warner's perspective he's doing more good than bad. Kurt does a great job analyzing his play.

Patriots are gonna draft his brother out of Maryland 3-0 this season and leading currently at Michigan. And Miami's 4 game win streak vs NE will come to a halt after the next game they play this year :billb:

Yep, if a QB can’t get it done in today’s NFL he’s not very good … I hope someday the NFL will pull its head outta its own azz and help defenses out a bit ..

The rules definitely help the QB now but crazy no#s weren't put up last season as top QB had 43 td's but half of qb s were in 20's and besides Tua, Mahomes and Allen, other's aren't setting the league on fire. Some people forget that Tua was outstanding at college and not so much a product of the NFL, but adjusting to his lack of size and arm strength, NFL speed isn\t affecting his game like other rookies. Tua stats at Bama

  • 1st in FBS history in average gain per play in a career (min. 7,500 yards): 9.84 yards
  • 1st in FBS history in career passing efficiency among players with 400-499 completions: 199.5
  • 1st in Alabama history in total offense per game in a career: 235.7 yards

The only disadvantage that today's QB's face compared to their predecessors is that there are more insanely athletic defensive players today. Everything else from schemes, rules, and better offensive skill players, seem to be in their favor.
