I could be wrong. but not that I am aware of.
Cowboys knew he was leaving once he became a FA. he was gonna ask for more than they would pay him. So not to sure there was ever a time he said no to the Cowboys (to bet on himself)
yeah i guess your right

Freeman McNeil.

Maybe not quite the way you were thinking but.....

Fought the NFL for his Free Agency. (& won) He was really the cause of the beginning of Free Agency.

The commie Kaepernick he best on himself and lost. Maybe if he has a tryout for a few teams at some pop warner field, he could get picked up by non Plantation owners.

Johnny Manziel thought he was good enough that he could party 24/7 ehhhhhh wrong answer

So does the Earl Thomas go in the win or lose category?

He eventually got his new deal. But broke his leg betting on himself.

he lost multiple times.
Even when he signed his mega deal, he bet on himself in the contract. Every year they could have cancelled the contract & then did!

His agent should never be allowed to work with NFL players again LOL

so which category do you put him in? Win or lose?

SP puts him in the yes category.

4 yr 55 mil with 32 guaranteed and to a contender team with Lamar I'd say win

Not sure what you mean by gambled on themselves and lost. I mean these two guys got paid pretty good but once they did, they were shells of themselves.

Albert Haynesworth and CJ2K.
I'm assumed he means they won in terms of the payout they got? Because if that's the case I'd put those two as winners even though they flubbed after signing.

For the Steelers on who bet on themselves and won (i.e. didn't sign an extension initially) if we're talking strictly about money just off the top of my head:

Mike Wallace
Emmanuel Sanders
Antwaan Randle El (the first stint)
Bud Dupree remains to be seen but he did turn down a contract offer and now is primed to make more after that

Not sure of anyone who lost in terms of dollars and cents. Bell got less money overall but more guaranteed so it's too early to say if he cost himself (for instance if he played two years then got cut the Jets offer would've netted him more money vs. if he sees it through it's entirety the Steelers offer would've paid more). I don't remember if Faneca got substantially more from the Jets but if he didn't I'd say lost because he missed on a Super Bowl a year later.

but could he have gotten that (or more) if he held out? Instead of playing on & breaking his leg?

Bell got less money overall but more guaranteed so you could argue either way on that.
I disagree on this part.
Not only did he get less money, but he had an entire year of not making any money! bell completely lost.
