Gresham is probably cheap in the last year of his deal

Rey M. was just resigned last offseason and was actually better this year than in any year prior. He stays

Peko is never going anywhere. The coaches value him and he doesn't cost too much.

Harrison had some good plays situationally - But that's all he's good for. I don't remember what his cap number looked like.

Cook must be getting it on with katie blackburn -- That's the only excuse for his existence.

Cutting Leon Hall saves 3 million this upcoming season, 5 million the next season, and 8 million in 2015.

Given his age and injury history I'd at least consider it

Would cut all those guys except for Peko. Heart and soul of that defense and a great locker room guy. And he is good so why cut him?

I think we have to evaluate Hall when he gets back. I am no fan of Rey M so he can go and Gresham is too damn frustrating to watch make a great play then a really stupid play that costs us.

I would re-structure Hall.

Gresham only makes 2mil if I read correctly above, totally managable.

Johnson's tag will come off, because they are not going to tag him again.

I look for them to tag Collins if they can't reach a deal, so that could be a wash.

I would be fine cutting Hall. He hasn't been marginally more effective than any of the other guys to justify the cost.

He was our best defensive back and our second best defensive player down the stretch in 2012. And he was the only reason we scored in two of our last three games in 2012. He's also much better than any of our other players at taking away the slot receiver.

I'd keep him this season. You're not getting a solid vet for 3 million and I still have significant concerns about Swag. If Hall doesn't make it back to form or starts to slip cut him before 2015 when he's due 5 million. In the meantime, use another high pick on a corner.

Gresham
Peko
Malugala
Harrison
Cook

Here are PFF numbers on each, to offer some perspective:

1) Gresham -16.3 -- Worst rating of the whole offense, 64th of 64 tight ends who played >=25% of snaps
at the very least don't extend him.
2) Peko -15.2 -- Supposed to be a run stopper, only graded -8.9 in 306 snaps in run defense. Still, a much
valued team member in the clubhouse, and he's not expensive.
3) Maualuga -- -10.2 -- Was not supposed to be on the field in the nickel, but forced to play more in
pass defense than originally intended. Tied for third on team with 33 stops. If Lamur,
Mays and Rey play first in nickel Maualuga could be useful for his run stopping ability.
4) Harrison -- Only 383 snaps, but his +8.4 ranked 9th of all 4-3 outside backers, including +10.7 vs
the run, 4th of 4-3 outside backers in the league. A valuable member of the lb corps.
5) Cook -- -4.8, the weak link in the OL statistically, but still has value for his intelligence in
making line calls. Ranks 24th numerically of 35 centers who play at least 25%
of his team's snaps.

Interesting. Seems worth it to bring back Harrison if his salary isn't too high. He plays well in the spots we ask him to play well. I agree that Rey is misjudged because he was forced to play on downs he has no business playing. Ultimately with Porter and Lamur coming back and Vinny Rey expanding his role, it will be interesting to see how much Rey's role will change.

Is this the year we finally take a center in the draft?

What was Thompson's rating? Atkins in at DT, and then maybe cut Peko, and go with Thompson as the other DT with Still backing up, and then finding/drafting another DT to replace depth??

Peko is affordable and going to give you an entire year.... Oh, and he's our fulllback so I guess we definitely keep him. We need depth at the position so he's not going anywhere.

Shouldn't be just cut Still right now?

Think I would prefer to cut Still....Thompson's rating was somewhere around -5 I think. The PFF website seems to have temporarily crashed, but I'll get the actual number when the site comes back up.

That didn't take long. Thompson was -5.4(389 snaps), with weaknesses in pass rush (-3.2) and penalty (-1.6). I see him moving ahead of Peko in the rotation next year, assuming Atkins comes back okay.
