It could have been one of a million plus reasons why the team was linked to him, probably because they needed some info from him. But overall one of the big picture reasons why a team like the 49ers would ever speak to a guy like Joeckel is because he could become available down the road in a few years and you want as much information on him as possible. Contenders are linked to the top guys every single year for reasons other than the idea of moving up to possibly get a top rated player.

I'm leaning toward Ertz as my prediction for the 49er's pick. PERFECT fit and an upgrade over Walker. He could be gone by 31 though.

Ertz wouldn't be an upgrade over Walker as a rookie IMO. Eventually? yes. Right away? I doubt it (depspite having much better hands).

Love to see my guy Keenan Allen on that list though.
