As the championship comes to a close, Hamilton has been on a tear winning the last two races. He is bearing down bigtime to secure his fifth championship as Vettel continues to falter with some of the dumbest mistakes a contender sould make. Raikkonen is moving on to Sauber to team-up with Giovinazzi for 2019.

On this thread, our championship competition continues to heat-up as Hank has been a recent tear of good fortunate attempting to take over the lead coming all the way back from fourth. We shall see how this one plays out on Sunday.

Wow, the Mercs take 1-2 in practice and then Red Bull takes 3-4. Vettel is fifth after FP2! RAikkonen appears to have left Ferrari already.

Tough pick, Bottas is on pole and he runs really well in Russia, yet it seems like everything this year hasn't gone his way....and wow Ferrari certainly has fallen off the wagon

Hamilton
Bottas
Vettel
Raikkonen

Hamilton takes the win on team orders and Bottas steps aside and finishes second. Vettel takes third and Raikkonen comes in fourth. Verstappen finishes fifth and Ricciardo sixth. Magnusson for Haas finishes eighth another race in the points-paying position.

Hamilton now has a whopping 50-point advantage over Vettel. He is well on his way to his fifth championship.

That was probably the easiest race to pick all year, the Red Bulls starting in the back really made the top 4 clear...plus Mercedes had such an advantage over Ferrari and you figure within those teams that team orders would take effect.

Poor Bottas, what a rough year he had. Early in the year he had the pace to match Hamilton but had awful luck to fall out of the title race and from there he's basically been second fiddle

Yea I agree BSF. If I am not mistaken, it was last year where Hamilton already nearly had the championship wrapped when they got to Russia and Bottas was given more free reign and he stole the win coming from way back. Not this year.

Yes Bottas runs well here, he was dominant this weekend and just got screwed by his team. The championship is wrapped up as it is.

Our championship meanwhile remains intriguing. Hank took a swing at something different it looks like in hopes of maybe gaining lots of ground on us but it did not work. Now the two of us have gained some ground to battle it out.

7 points separate us with 5 races to go, I've got to make sure I'm on my game because one bad race and you're back in the lead :pop2::pop2:

Back in the day it was how is Ferrari going to screw Barichello.

I'm going to keep a revised total because Bottas won that race.....

It was the easy pick for sure.

But picking similar would help me not. Never up, never in.

They (Mercedes) should have given Bottas the win.

Vettel isn't going to catch Hamilton.

Lewis is as the say , on song.

Verstappen had a great run till he pitted. Then all the hype was for not as he couldn't do anything on the fresh soft tires.

Title race is most definitely over now, even in the unlikely scenario that Hamilton fails to finish in two of the remaining races...Vettel would have to win and STILL outperform him which doesn't seem possible since Mercedes have been vastly superior since the summer break.

Ed Zachary.

The run Lewis has been on (and today should have been a none too shabby P2) has been the stuff of champions.

If he hadn't stuffed up his Q3 last lap he'd have likely had pole and none of this would have happened.

He was purple in sector one and was looking purple in Sector 2 when he went wide. That's all it takes.

It's been a great season. Lot's of stuff happening. Makes me even forget the halo.

LOL! I remember the big deal everyone made about that entering the season, I honestly have forgotten it's there too.

The in car shots make use of it.

And I think Ferrari have added some "aero bits" to it. A teenie wing?

I remember driving with my finger in front of my face to see if it bothered me.

Nope. I can focus right past it.
