This is the week-end F-1 follows IndyCar to Belle Isle who was just there for the post-Indy 500 Duals. Newgarden and Dixon won the races and this is the race that Ferrari believes they will finally catch the Silver Arrows. I doubt it as the Mercs are bringing their 2019 engine upgrade for the week-end. Should be another good F-1 race.

Hamilton is killing it so far in both practices and he appears to be dominant. If nothing changes, he is the favs for taking this race.

Hamilton has come out in P2 with another car and is still doing well after the crash yesterday.

Hamilton (needs a start or a good long run, cause hes overall fast)
Bottas (cause he's in a Benz)
Vettel (somebody needs sloppy thirds.. and is pretty quick)
Verstappen (an angry 4th, getting by Danny Ric will be interesting, but he's only 5 spots behind on the grid, makes 3 up on start?)

Vettel wins the race physically on the track but received a major penalty that robbed him of the win. Thus, the final tally is: Hamilton, Vettel, LeClerc, and Bottas.

I can't help but to laugh at the fact that even when they're the first car to cross the line Ferrari still can't get things to go right for them

now that the laughs are out of the way

what a disgusting debacle of a penalty this was, everyone even Hamilton but especially me in this competition got robbed by this penalty. There will be an asterisk around this win for Hamilton, instead of him being able to possibly take it on the track which he very well could have

I think penalties should be used for intentionally created incidents or for ridiculously dumb driving. They didn't even make contact!!!! A soft penalty that impacted the biggest position in the race. This is a bad day for the sport. What a mess

When it first happened I thought it was a bad exit by Vettel that could have caused problems.

Still think that way, but feel sorry for Vettel.

My take on it is the penalty was for "unsafe re-entry". And that is what it was. When Seb lost it and started across the grass he stood on the throttle which lurched his car sideways and threw him onto the racing line. By definition "unsafe". I get it, he was trying to stay ahead. But had he gotten out of it, he could have stayed off the racing line and avoided the penalty. And at that point he had 12ish laps to get the spot back.

All of the talk about him not being in control of the car once back on tarmac is technically true, but he wasn't in control of the car directly through his actions. Sucks for Seb and Ferrari, but the right call.

Ferrari has 96 hours to appeal. I'll monitor what happens. If they change the winner, I'll make the necessary adjustments to final points total for everyone.
