After that ridiculous idea of a race in Belgium last week, the F-1 series comes to the Netherlands for the Dutch Grand Prix. Maybe that was the equalizer race for Verstappen to cool off with since he has been fuming since the run-over by Hamilton. Onward we go though and this ought to be a better race this week-end.

Seems like overtaking will be tough. Almost guaranteed a red flag. Checo doing Max no favors, but I still like him

I've seen mountain bike tracks that are wider, so I think no. The race is to the first turn. And with Merc not getting a medium tire run in in Q2, there is no real strategy battle. I mean, I guess MAMG could pit Bottas early and RB could cover him letting Hamilton run long for fresher tires later. But a 1:15 race lap is gonna mean that Ham won't get too far ahead, even with the race pace advantage.

I know they said the drivers love the track and it looks super fun to drive. But it has the hallmarks of a race as boring as Monaco. I had hopes for the banked turns affording different lines and passing opportunities, but it doesn't look like that's the case.

Does Mazepin pay attention to his surroundings?
Seems crazy to cut off a speeding car like that.

& of course he again spent time in the gravel.

Verstappen
Hamilton
Bottas
Leclerc

I actually think Bottas could outdrive Hamilton here, but no way they would allow him to finish in front due to the championship.
biggest question. Who doesnt wreck with all the safety cars I suspect to be happening.

Should have gotten a penalty, but honestly what could they do? Make them start last? Give them time penalties to ensure they finish dead last? Dock them points?

Daddy Maz will ensure any money penalties are paid.

Yeah, once Valtteri gets his name on a contract elsewhere he has nothing to lose. He won't rock the boat, but it would be good to see "to whom it may concern" Valtteri" stick his nose out there a few times.

Because the track at ZandVoort is so narrow, unless you catch somebody and pass them by the first turn, the field is pretty much set for the race. Nearly, the only way to get a pass and improve positioning during the race is to wait for a mistake (pit error, wreck, etc).

Verstappen then takes the win followed by Hamilton, Bottas, and Gasly.

With this win, Verstappen retakes the lead in the championship by just 2.5 points over Hamilton.

What an awful, boring race. only 3 of the 20 drivers made a pass on track for position. I mean when the most interesting thing to happen is a driver ignoring team orders (Both Alonso and Bottas), it's not great. Only 3 cars finished on the lead lap. Short, skinny tracks suck.

At least Monza should be fun.

That was one of the reasons they left ZandVoort in the first place, 43. Too narrow. But I suppose because of recouping lost revenue from this pandemic nonsense, they came back to a boring circuit where everyone was nearly guaranteed revenue.

They probably made up half the COVID shortfall in just Orange T-shirt sales.
