Amaro makes his1st move of the summer. Phillies will get two lower level minor leaguers to be named later. Strange move when you consider we are running low on starting pitching. But it is possible that Amaro might claim another pitcher on waivers to replace him.

Hernandez was scheduled to pitch tonight and that was a dumb move because Hernandez was just getting some decent games in. Could he not have sent Kendricks or Burnett? Makes little sense to me.

O'Sullivan gets the start tonight. He has a lifetime 5.97 era. We will need to score some runs!

The players to be named later will blow. Sean O'sullivan blows. Roberto is off and on but it did seem like he had improved lately. This fruitless move, typical of the Phillies, is ultimately meaningless.

They traded "the player who was renamed later" for two "players to be named later.

Seriously, I can't really complain about this one. People complaining that he is getting traded "just as he is starting to play well" or whatever have to realize he's pretty mediocre so for once they took advantage of a guy who's value temporarily increased and got something for him. Now maybe Kendrick and Burnett will have a couple good starts and they can trade them too.

I'm banking on one of those "players to be named later" to be named "Joc Pederson"

I put some money down in Vegas on that

:hope:

Pederson is in AAA. They said the players would come from the low minors. I'm hoping for either Seager or Urias

Not sure why you seem upset? If they win tonight with hernandez, they are in dead last place...but if they lose tonight without Hernandez, they are in dead last place. So we add 2 low level prospects to our farm system and just maybe, they might help us in the future. Absolutely nothing lost. The Phillies are a last place team with no life...they need to look toward the future, since the present is lost.

Yeah, I look at it this way- If your franchise is so talent thin that losing Roberto Hernandez leaves a void that you have to scramble to fill then even though it sounds counter-intuitive, yes you should trade him and take a chance that you might add someone who has future value.

Yeah we're in last place but there are degrees of hardship. I don't know much about the selection process for these low level players but you can believe that the Cubs will be sure that the Phils don't happen to secure someone with real talent. On the balance it would have been better just to keep Roberto for now rather than force the fans to watch a dead, fat ass MLB reject like O'Sullivan in the rotation.

I get pissed, westcoast when it appears we get a player that is developing into the positive realm and then Boobens trades him but you may be right if the prospects we received in the trade develop. If they don't then like you stated, we are still dead last and stuck so nothing is lost except potential which is the oprative word these days for the Phillies.

Hey jvett. How in the hell did we win that game last night by scoring 5 runs in the 8th? Who did what?

Just to add insult to the deal. Dodgers GM said Amaro could have asked for more on trade with Hernandez and he would have yielded. They needed a pitcher ASAP!

Hey jvett. How in the hell did we win that game last night by scoring 5 runs in the 8th? Who did what?

I left the TV for a short time and when I came back they were loaded in the 8th with Howard at bat. Amazing luck. It was an orgasmic moment when he wacked it into the seats in deep left center. He came out for a curtain call too. First one in a few years maybe. lol. It would be something if he went on a HR rampage for 6 weeks. Back to reality.

Before the homer, Howard did something at the plate I hadn't seen him usually do. Before the pitch he sent out, he briefly crouched a few inches, then quickly came back up as he coiled to start his swing. It gave the appearance that he was relaxed and confident about his stance. Anyone else see it that way?
