I think everyone's on the same page there. Best case scenario is Crawford can turn into a player as good as Segura. The fact they were able to offload Santana (which was a horrible signing) was just icing on the cake. The trade is contingent on Crawford reaching his potential and the Mariners hopefully getting something decent for Carlos Santana.
That being said, even if Crawford reaches the modest projections of his potential, I don't think he will be as good as Segura. I understand that Segura had to be moved, I just wish the Mariners would've been willing to sacrifice more in terms of money to increase the prospect return.
I will say that there is little reason to think you guys lost this trade. Segura is an incredible player, and one of the more underrated middle infielders in baseball IMO. You're going to really enjoy watching him play.
Just in. Phillies trade reliever Garcia to Angels for lefty specialist Alverez. Alverez is strong against left handed hitters.
Another god move IMO.
Garcia was unlucky with balls in play. Phillies sucked at fielding as well. He can throw at 07 mph. Take away two bad innings and his era drops.Yeah. Alverez is also not too shabby vs RHs. 2018 R/L split is .232/.206.
Why would the Angels give up 29-year old .270 Alverez for 31-year old, .607 Garcia whose R/L split is .264/.280?
Make that 97 mph.Garcia was unlucky with balls in play. Phillies sucked at fielding as well. He can throw at 07 mph. Take away two bad innings and his era drops.
Doesn't move the needle on either to me, similar to getting Segura.Signed Andrew McCutheon 3 years $ 45 mil. I think this is a pretty good indicator of which way they will go in the Harper/Machado sweepstake.
he has been headed downhill, though, sadly, he's still been better than what we've been trotting out. i say sadly, as i've been in an NL only fantasy league for years and the dude wasn't good, though still better than anything we put out.He is headed downhill. Flex will make him another .230 hitter.

I'd have rather had harper. They already traded for a ss and machado wants to play that position. Plus the team has a lot of outfielders already. This makes me think they aren't getting either of the big two. When I first heard about this, I felt like we just got a much more improved Santana. However, Andrew has a lifetime .378 OBP. He can field with the best of them, and at least he can hit .250. I just hope they haven’t given on Harper. Maybe they plan on going more for Machado.
keuchel would be among my trifecta of fucking up the offseason, who the fuck wants to throw money at him? It’s early winter but I think the Phils may need to get both Keuchel and Bumgarner if they’re going for it all in 2019.
Don't worry they got a guy who has as many mvps.Just as I feared, from winter meetings as reported on ESPN, Dodgers will move Puig and go for Harper. Sounds almost like a done deal. Can't the Phillies ever get on top of anything? Dopes.
