Makes sense that this would happen in Trout's 1st year in Philly.....

I like Crawford. The only problem is he has never hit left handed pitching at any level. If he could somehow just be a little less terrible at it he could end up being a solid major leaguer. It sounds hard, but Gregorious was terrible against lefties at this age too and he has somehow made himself better. (of course hitting right behind Judge and Stanton does not hurt)

They'll have the players, but Kapler will find a way to fuck it up. Bryce Harper might be the Phillies short stop by then, you never can tell with that guy.

But any manager that will pull Aaron Nola after 68 pitches in less than 6 innings while he's throw a shutout and dominating with a 5 run lead, only to see his bullpen get shelled and lose the game, and then later on make a pitching change when he doesn't have anyone warming up in the bullpen in the same series needs a lifetime contract with the Phillies IMO.

Has Harper ever advanced past the first series?

Nope. Nationals as a whole have never made it farther than the NLDS. Hasn't been Harper's fault though. He's put up good numbers in the playoffs.

When the Angels realize he will not sign an extension, they are not going to let him go for nothing, so the Phils will trade for him during the next off-season. So, 2020.

Why would the Phils want to trade Hoskins and their entire farm for a half season of Trout when they can just wait for him to be a FA?

If they trade for Trout, the team would basically be Trout, Harper and Aaron Nola. Sounds a lot like Giancarlo Stanton, Christian Yelich and Jose Fernandez.

Where did I say Hoskins?

If Nick Williams doesn’t get traded for a pitcher, he could be packaged with prospects to get him. Angels have zero leverage and risk losing him for nothing. A team may try to rent him for a playoff run, but we will see.

The Angels are going to want a fuck ton for Trout, even for a rental.

They can demand all they want.
They either get something or get nothing.
That's reality.

Well, of course. I just don't see them letting him go for jack shit. I think they'll just keep him and hope he resigns. He has already stated he doesn't want to discuss a contract during the season. So, if they don't get a deal done, before the season starts, they may have to wait until October.

yep. They were a Storen blown save away from advancing in 2012. Harper was one of the few hitters who showed up in the 2014 NLDS. Even with Harper going 5/17 with 3 home runs and 4 RBIs, the Nats only scored 7 runs and managed a godawful line of .164/.222/.258 in that 4-game series. Nats pitching certainly did their job, giving up only 9 runs in that series and no more than 3 in any of those games.
