Two, .500 clubs going to go at it in an early game. We shall see what occurs. Hopefully we can get a win today.
The contract was actually good considering the Phillies as a floundering team the past few years. Who else would the Phillies have gotten to catch? Rupp was a few years away and delicate Joseph doesn't show up for work. Plus, all player contracts are excessive. If you look at 2014 NL catcher stats on Leaderboards, you'll find that Carlos did a credible job - 110 g, .252/.347/.370; BA 8th, OBP 5th, WAR 3.2 5th. Molina had a WAR of 3.2, 6th. Of course, Ruiz is further down in individual power stats. But I think he was a good signing at the time with Rupp beginning to break in this season.
