Numbers 6-10 are in:

6 Bengals
7 Patriots
8 Packers
9 Saints
10 Texans

If I had to guess, I'm thinking their 1-5 order is:

1 Broncos
2 49ers
3 Seahawks
4 Falcons
5 Ravens

IMOP...way too many people are too high on Seattle. They will have a very difficult time matching their success last year. Bengals are too high in these rankings as well.

Bengals @ 6?

I honestly would put them in that 6-8 range in rankings right now. They in my opinion are around the 3rd-5th best team in the AFC right now. The AFC North race is going to be a run one to watch this year between Baltimore, Cincinnati, and Pittsburgh. At this point the only 2 teams I would for sure put above Cincinnati would be Houston and Denver with the Patriots, Ravens, and Cincinnati all close.

It's just tough to put them at #6 in my mind when they have both a HC and a QB who have yet to prove they can win in the playoffs.

That is perfectly understandable. I question their coach a lot more than their quarterback at this point as Andy Dalton is one of the young guns that has really impressed me that just doesn't quite get the attention of some of the others. This will definitely be a big year for them to prove whether they can hang with the big boys or not.

I have a hard time finding 7 teams better than Green Bay but whatever. I hope people overlook them this year.

I sure hope the Germinator works out for the Colts. Leaving Lacy on the board for the Packers kinda shocked me. GB will have to better this year.

Btw, I still think my Colts will wind up being a top 10 team. Of course, it is still the preseason. Everyone is winning the Super Bowl this time of year. Maybe not the Jags....

Why does everyone have the Broncos so high? Welker?

I've had the Ravens as the best AFC team for a long time now.

I've had the Ravens as the best AFC team for a long time now.

I think it boils down to the fact that they have 7 new starters on defense compared to last year and Bolden is gone from the WR core. There are just a few more question marks surrounding the Ravens this year compared to some in the past. Throw in the loss of leadership from the guys that are gone and the main stream media sees the Ravens heading down hill for a year or so.

The Ravens on paper have one of the more talented teams in the AFC but it is a matter of how quickly all the new pieces can begin to work together. They could finish easily as the best team in the AFC or they could even finish 3rd in their division. They are somewhat a polarizing team this year. I error on the side that this team has a great FO and should still be a playoff team as they have proven to be one of the more stable franchises over the last 5 or so years.

Also the reason people have the Broncos so high (maybe not after today's news) is because they did finish 13-3 in Manning's first year after taking a whole year off and have added some solid pieces to an already solid roster. On paper they look like a solid team but hey many thought the same about the Eagles over the last couple of years and look at them. The players still have to show it on the field.

The advanced stats people loved the Broncos last year. It never really factored in their soft division, though.

The advanced stats people also really love Von Miller and I have a feeling that the Broncos would drop a few spots if they had to rank them without him on the field.

What is this even based on? The best defense and offense over the second half of the season, a QB that will only get better, second best runner in the league, elite secondary, great coaching, added one of the most dangerous weapons in football in Percy Harvin..... I think they very well may be the Super Bowl favorites.

Finally a guy in this thread with some sense. And a Rams fan too so I know you have definitely watched both the Seahawks and 49ers......

Seattle comes in at #4. Lower than I thought PFT would pick them, but higher than I think they should be. The Seahawks will take a step back this year.

Even though they are in our division, I know less about them than I should. But as a Colts fan, my main memories are that the Jags have a lot of big people, they tend to hurt more of our players than any other team and we almost always beat them.

But like I said, this time of the year everyone is going to the Super Bowl.

Bizarre. Seattle was Football Outsiders 'most efficient team in the regular season' last year and they made at least 3 big FA moves. Its good to see the football nerds disagree on teams a bit.
