13 year BCS history the highest BCS selections was 8, Ohio State, followed by Oklahoma @ 7. Ohio State has received a BCS bowl birth 62% of the time. For any fan to expect a BCS birth every year is absolutely ridiculous. 43 teams have 'earned' a BCS selection in the 13 year history. Of those 43 teams, only 13 gone to the BCS more than 2 times. Of those 13, 3 are not even in the current top 25 & I am hard pressed to find more than 5-6 of those teams being 'elite' year in and year out.

I understand frustration, I am frustrated at how we played & how the game imploded on the team yesterday & against wiscy....and the northwestern game. Football isn't the same as it was during the Devaney Osborne days. There will never again be the 'decade of dominance' for any team. There will be highs & there will be lows.

Look at Alabama, Auburn, LSU for example. Those teams, in recent history have been dominant. They have a combined 8 BCS appearances between them. Which is just as much as Ohio State has on their own. Florida State & Va Tech have had 10 combined appearances, I don't think anyone would confuse those teams with National Championship contenders year in and year out.

You guys can take this information & do what you wish with it. When I look at this, it puts things in perspective. I know we haven't been to a BCS game in forever & thats probably the part that stings the most...we've been pretty fortunate as Nebraska fans in our lifetime. We haven't had to endure shitty teams too often. Even our "shitty" teams had 5 wins in recent years. To say that an 8-3 team is 'shitty' is short-sided. As fans we cheer with our hearts most of the time, I just hope all of us can use our heads after the Mich game & realize we're a lot better off than 85-90% of D-1 football schools.

Once again it's not really that we're losing. It's the WAY we're losing.

This.

Yea Tom Osborne had 10 win seasons blah blah blah blah  Tom Osborne wasn't losing games in this epic fashion though folks. Jest saying.

I still support Bo, but he needs to make some changes. I don't know what those changes need to be........I'm not around the practices. But something needs to be different.

I'm sick of the "we don't have the talent yet" excuse. I call bullshit there. Clownahan put together a couple of top 5 recruiting classes and then ended Nebraska's bowl streak with those players.

You need capable players on your team, but good coaching is what it all comes down to. You can have all bluechips on your roster, but if you're not preparing the kids to play, then they won't play.

I understand the game wasn't pretty. I understand that the wiscy game wasn't pretty. I understand that we lost to Northwestern @ home, should have never happened. I guess I just don't understand if our expectations are rational.

Bo's teams were focused around a dominant defense & an inept offense when he started. This year, it has transformed into an OK offense and sub-par defense (putting it mildly). There are 2, count them, 2 FBS schools undefeated at this point in the season. Most schools have AT LEAST two losses. Parody is something that we are going to have to accept.

Tommie Frazier isn't walking thru that door, neither is Suh. We have who we have & our coach is who we have. We are a good team, we were a good team last year, we were a good team the year before.

There are lots of good teams. Not so many great teams. I would say that there is only 1 "great" team right now & that's LSU. Even they aren't a slam dunk to win a National Championship.

If Iowa State can beat Oklahoma State, if Texas Tech can beat Oklahoma, etc...anything can and will happen.

And and I don't get that the team doesn't fight for that day and keep fighting through the season. The lackadaisical way this team plays at times is hard for the least zealot Husker fan to take. Execution is on and off, and when it is off it seems the team has no focus and no direction.

There is more scholarship parity than there used to be. There are more distractions for players than there used to be. The coach can't control what these players are doing on their time. Are they in the film room or sitting on their couch w/ Susie Rottencrotch playing NCAA 2011?

Here is some perspective for you guys: Oklahoma, a legitamite NC contender is 8-2 after losses to TT and Baylor..talk about failed expectations and crushed dreams. Remember that team from Austin? The Lonhorns are 6-4 in a weak and watered down Big 12 and could be 6-6 when its all said and done. Not long ago it was they who said we would be the ones around .500 with that brutal BIG 10 schedule (the toughest we've had in a decade)

If we win out that gives us a third 10 win season in a row, anyone who is disapointed with that is suffering from short term memory loss..back in 2007 you would have given up a kidney for a streak of 10 win seasons.

We had ONE championship caliber defense in 2009 anchored by one of the best D linemen in the game today, and suddenly we thought we were world beaters..THAT IS OUR FAULT..Don't blame Bo or Beck or the kids for failing YOUR unrealistic exectations..YOU were the ones talking about National Chamionships, not Taylor, nor Beck, nor Bo. Look yourselves in the mirror and take some responsibility for YOUR actions. If you truly belive "Bo has one more year" than you need a firm slap across the face "IMO". Now I know some of you are eternal optimists bordering on extremists, but if that is your attitude than PREPARE TO HAVE YOUR DREAMS CRUSHED EVERY YEAR..

The fact of the matter is that Bo has improved this team in just about every aspect which is all you can really ask of him, I know that's not good enough for some of you..but guess what? That man doesn't owe you shit. I realize most of the gripes are about margin of defeat, but more than anything else those ugly defeats are a result of a lack a maturity..which is fixable with time. This is a young team, with a young coach and a young offensive coordinator playing in a new conference with a very tough schedule. Any rational person should know that THEIR BEST FOOTBALL IS AHEAD OF THEM!!

GO BIG RED!!!!

I have no problem with what you said...However, these expectations were given to us by the team when they all got microphones in front of them and start spewing national championship stuff.

I wont say Bo did because all he has said and all he ever has said is that our goal is to win the Conference Championship.
