What he like Dash, always thought of him as a quick guy who is soft with some offensive skills, but scouting the stat line seems to have some grit to his game. Anyway he is a poor mans Pascal Dupuis?

He is the definition of streaky - When he's on, he can provide some timely offense. Good skater, can be used to kill penalties. I think he'll be a nice fit in Pittsburgh.

Nice definitely the type of guy the Pens need. He's probably gonna play on Sid's wing, at least see if he can.

What's your point? Cammelleri is a -24 on the same team, in fewer games.

Pix and Dash's assessments are correct. Both Dup and Stemp are career .5 PPG players, with Dup being the better skater.

+/- is one of the worst stats to compare players, especially in this situation. Dupuis has played on a line with Sidney Crosby, that alone will inflate your +/- stat.

I think it would be interesting to know if it was Shero or Burke who initiated the process - At any rate, I don't think anyone is saying Stempniak is going to be an offensive dynamo in Pittsburgh.

So, don't watch the games? They brought in two forwards that immediately improve upon the team.

They haven't had their morning skate for tonight yet, so I'm guessing on the lines for SJS:

Jokinen-Malkin-Neal
Goc-Sutter-Stempniak(Gibbons)
Glass-Adams-Pyatt/Vitale

Simply getting rid of Kobasew, limiting Pyatt, adding another RW is great. Don't underestimate bringing in Goc. Getting Jokinen was overlooked last year, and it was the best move Shero made. Goc has a ton of intangibles. 14th in the league in FO%, had a decent Corsi on a bad team, kills penalties. Shero upgraded the bottom 6, that's all that could be asked for. I actually don't hate our depth right now. Consider that Megna/Zolnierczyk are the first two up from AHL, and that Bennett should be back by the end of the month. Bennett slots in on the first/third line, moves Gibbons to the fourth where he should be. All the sudden we have four respectable lines. I would've liked to have gotten a veteran D too, but the prices were really high on those. Heck, only one moved really, and that was Mezaros, and no way the Flyers would give him to us.

Pens defense may not be great but even with the injuries, they are in the top 10 for goals against. You could give that credit to MAF but considering the injuries lately, they are doing a decent job for the most part but cant argue that they need improvement. Also, the Pens don't need a star winger to replace Dup.
