I have some agreement here but I like his performance in Pulp Fiction more than Sixth Sense. His role in Pulp Fiction really glues the whole movie together even if he gets overshadowed by the other main characters. Willis has to deal with some of the craziest scenarios in movie history.

Speaking of Pulp Fiction, that was Samuel Jackson's peak performance. He was great in that.

The Ringer's Rewatchable podcast reviews movies we've all seen a million times. And in that they talk about the stars of the movie and whether the film was their "Apex Mountain" or basically their best performance. So I figured we could talk about. I'll offer 5 stars and we can talk about what their greatest film was. Should spark some good debate. We can start with the dudes but an actress one would be fun as well.

1. Tom Cruise
2. George Clooney
3. Matt Damon
4. Bruce Willis
5. Gene Hackman

Cruise - One of my personal favorites of all time... A Few Good Men.

Clooney - I am not a big fan so I haven't seen everything, but I would say O Brother or the Oceans movies.

Damon - everything this guy does is good, but again I would have to go with one of my all time favorites... Goodwill Hunting.

Willis - I have to go with Die Hard. I watched it a few months ago, it holds up. Really good movie.

Hackman - haven't seen a lot of his movies, but I always thought Enemy of the State was excellent. That would also be my pick for best Will Smith movie.

Stewart - Vertigo
Shannon - not the biggest fan of this movie, but I thought he was good in Shape of Water
Gosling - personal favorite, Nice Guys. Honorable Mention (also personal favorite) Fracture.
DiCaprio - tough, dude has a lot of good movies... probably gonna go with The Departed though.
Nicholson - Chinatown.

TLJ - probably go with The Fugitive.

Hanks - so many good ones to choose from, this is likely to change based on how I feel at the moment... but for now,
Apollo 13.

Washington - another hard one for me... The Hurricane was incredible though. Training Day, Fences, others all close seconds lol.

Pitt - Seven.

Fiennes - personal favorite Grand Budapest Hotel

One of my top five all-time movies is Lonesome Dove so I'd have to go with that for Tommy Lee Jones. (bout time to watch that one again)

Denzel is so, so hard to do though. How do you even pinpoint his peak?

I had NO idea that was Hackman in Young Frankenstein!!

Me neither until just now. I thought he was confusing Hackman with Peter Boyle. That was a very funny scene.

Fences, Flight, John Q, Training Day, The Hurricane, Philadelphia, Glory... yeah man, the dude is good. Plenty more to I'm sure, just what I was thinking off the top.

Bruce Willis and George Clooney don't have " a greatest movie "

I'm going with Lonesome Dove as well

For DW he's got so many good ones but i love and i do mean love Man on Fire. And Training Day.

Hackman - The French Connection or No Way Out

Pitt - underrated for me. But I thought he was brilliant in Snatch, Fight Club, Fury, Moneyball

Nicholson - One Flew Over the Cuckoo's....Chinatown for sure

Jimmy Stewart - I'm a sucker for westerns so it's gotta be The Man Who Shot Liberty Vallance

Hanks - The Road to Perdition, The Green MIle, and Batchelor Party was pretty funny in it's day.

Cruise - Rain Man, Risky Business

The Book of Eli and Man on Fire are both real good for Denzel IMO.

I don't think Clooney has a greatest either but two of his that I've watched multiple times are:

The American

Michael Clayton (Oscar nomination)

I only watched Syriana once but he won an Oscar as Best Supporting Actor in this one.

Not bad for a guy who got his start on Gray's Anatomy.

I like him because he's not afraid to be the bad guy or die in a film.....

Safe House was good and he didn't overplay it and died. Liked the Book of Eli.

Yeah I don't really get how popular Clooney is, another one I thought was ok was A Perfect Storm. Not a great movie at all, but its good for him lol. Intolerable Cruelty is pretty funny too.

All good choices. However I have different choices.

Cruise - A Few Good Men. Perfect role to highlight his cockiness. Hon Mention - The Firm
Clooney - Out of Sight. The quintessential Clooney and Soderberg's first real great film. Hon mention - Michael Clayton
Damon - Good Will Hunting. The movie that vaulted him to the top still was his best performance. Hon Mention - The Martian
Willis - Die hard. One of the greatest action movies ever made. Hon men - Sixth Sense
Hackman - Hoosiers. So many great choices but he was tremendous in this role. Hon mention. Unforgiven
Can't argue any of those...
