Payne or James

I remember at draft time that our war room was kind of split on these two players. James is poised to win DOY and Payne had a very strong rookie season. I really wanted James at the time but obviously knew that Payne would help our dreadful run defense.

Now we fast forward to the end of this season and now the D-line is a strength and S is a big weakness. With Ionman, Allen and Settle having solid seasons I wonder if the pick would have been Payne if we knew we would of gotten Settle late in the draft. Now that Swearinger is cut, Nichklson is a head case and Dix is a FA we really could of used James more. If we somehow lose Dix in FA we are really in trouble.
I mean did our team have more faith in Swearinger and Nicklson than Allen and Ionman?

I know im playing Monday morning QB but I would like to hear some thoughts about this. Right now its looking like we took a run stuffer over a do it all safety.

Lol - are you serious? This was one of the few moves they got rt. As for safety - first of all I would be fine w/ unloading Swearinger if this wasn't a POS organization . No doubt they will fuck up finding his replacement.

The Dix pickup has also proven to be a failure - his screwup vs Titans was a huge part of loss & his play has been subpar.

Can't believe you are worried about this w/ all of the other turmoil caused by Allen & Snyder.

Wow. For what has happened to Swearinger and Nicklson plus we don't know if Dix is coming back, I make the trade right now if the Chargers wanted Payne for James.

I would take the dominate d/ line and draft a safety . Nich is small potatoes . Don’t care if dix is here or not . I take the piece to the dominate d/line

i mean i look at payne and i see this generations aaron donald

i see jonathon allen and i see the same

these 2 guys appear to be the best tackles of this generation

i see james as a sean taylor type

so the question is loaded and i guess it goes to what your corp belief"s are

me dominate the LOS is the key

that doesnt mean dean is wrong james would be nice but then you have mcgee and brantley and settle taking snaps

nich's issue isnt a big deal , couple game suspension , so i feel we can draft a starting safety in round 3 or 2 depending on the value

On both sides of the ball the LOS is often undervalued.

You can look at all the great players that were on the Redskins in the 80s but they were dominate on both lines.

we will not be fine at safety if Dix leaves. we would have had better depth at dlineman than safety that is why some people in the war room wanted James. Plus there is no safety in this draft that is even close to James' talent level but there are a lot of 1st round DT's in this draft from what I read on draft websites.

Sorry but there are safeties in this draft and making one position weaker to upgrade a other is why the ASS trade failed .

Sorry I keep Payne and let the d/line be the foundation of the defense
