One of the best owners in the NFL. He never tried to micromanage a team (see Jerry Jones). He was never arrested for driving impaired while possessing drugs (see Jim Irsay). He hired two coaches that got the Seahawks to three super bowls. Finally, he saved football in Seattle. This is so fucking sad.

Best Owner in the NFL, he will be missed. Thank you so very much for coming to the rescue and saving the Seahawks. You will be remembered and i am sure added to the Seahawks Ring of Honor. God bless you Paul Allen and your family. Today is a sad sad day for all 12's and a even sadder Day for the Allen family.

Rest in Peace and God Bless you.

Sad day. My heart goes out to his family today. Did a lot of great things for Seattle besides football. I will always remember the NFC Champ games where he raised the flag and how into it he was.

There are few owners like him. Let's hope for more like him in the Future.

RIP Mr. Allen and Thank you for everything you have done for the Seahawks and the people of Seattle and the Northwest( no matter which side of the boarder)

Very sad indeed... Always view him as the savior of the Seahawks... The Seattle community lost a great man... I wonder what this means for the Seahawks... Not sure what kind of extended family he has...

Saved the Seahawks for Seattle, but owning the team was a very small part of his life and legacy. A great owner for sure, but he was much more passionate about other charitable efforts he was involved in and even was a lot more interested in the NBA sports-wise. He did a lot of great things for many people aside from his impact on Hawks fans. He'll be missed and admired forever.

Very sad day. Without Paul, the Seahawks would have been long gone. So thank you for saving our Hawks and help putting this franchise back on the NFL map. An all around great guy and will be missed by many. RIP and prayers to his family.

It's reported that his sister is a major Seahawks fan. I suspect the franchise will stay in the Allen family for years to come.

Sadly, I think we all expected that this day was going to come sooner that it should have. Just a terrible illness

Not that it matters or anything, but I had no idea that Paul Allen never married and had no kids. I guess for some reason I just assumed he did. I was trying to figure out why his sister played any role in the team.

Listening to PC talk about Allen's passing this morning on his weekly spot with B&S got me thinking. Could this be the event that convinces him to move on from Seattle? This morning he talked at length about how it was Allen that was the main reason he decided to leave USC to come back to the NFL and how he bought into the vision that Allen was trying to build here. With a different owner, could some of that go away or change enough to make Pete think it's time call it good here and try one more gig -- maybe college again -- before he's done for good? I hope not, but I could see it.

All depends on what kind of owner buys the team. A Paul Allen type owner PC will stay and he and JS can continue to retool this team. A Jerry Jones hands on type owner could land PC into retirement and quite possibly JS moving on as well. Only time will tell.
