I figure him to be a bench player, or treated like Bonds in the final years of his career.

Wonder what this means for Schierholtz and Ishikawa? We are now left with 6 OFers and no backup SS. I counted 13 hitters:

Torres, Ross, DeRosa, Burrell, Schierholtz, Rowand
Huff, Sandoval, Tejada, Sanchez, Ishikawa
Posey, Whiteside

No Burriss, Fontenot, Rohlinger, Belt or Ford. I have a feeling that Ishi will be gone and replaced by Burriss.

i like the move. do exactly what we did with him last year. let him play the first 6 or 7 innings, then replace him with a better defender.

I think the Bonds treatment is what they'll do. Days off on Sundays, day games after night games and 6th/7th inning defensive removal. Or how Jason Giambi was used this year.

Nice. Hope it isn't more than 1 year @ $3 mil. $2 mil, of course, would be nicer (with incentives possibly bumping him up to 3). That 330K World Series share can help any contract. Go get another one!

DeRosa is really an infielder, though he can play OF (much like Huff). I think Travis makes the club unless (hope, hope) we pick up Hardy.
