Where would this team be w/o Adrian Peterson? Who by the way had a better rushing average 5.7 ypc than Alex Smith had ypp 4.5 ypp.

What a game! Once the Pantehrs got the ball back I figured we were done. Defense came up big. What started out looking like a blowout, became a nail biter. Second half offensive struggles reared its ugly head again, but we just beat a good Panthers team without Thopmson and Crowder. I'll take it. Six weeks in and the Skins are still in first place.

Concerns
Second half offense

The Panthers walked up and down the field on Dunbar. I hate he put that type of performance on tape. I expect teams will really try him moving forward.

The o line has to give Smith a chance. Moses has been bad this year. Holding call and letting his guy blow up Smith on back to back plays. This team really needs a LG.

Smith still seems to have happy feet in the pocket. You can tell he's uncomfortable in there. He needs to step in to his throws and take the hit, or tuck it and run more often. There were a few instances where I would have liked to see him take off up the middle.

RK and Smith still aren't getting home, but they are getting a little more pressure than they were. RK gets doubled at times.

The good

Gruden called a masterful first half. He was aggressive and I was glad to hear he ripped off Norman's headphones. Be their coach, not their buddy.

Someone beat me to it, but where would this team be without AP? My goodness.

I was glad to see Doctson tough it out. Good for him.

I'm convinced Vernon Davis has one of those pools from the movie "Cacoon" in his house. He does it every year.

We didn't miss on Richardson Jr.

Smith wasn't bad, wasn't great, but made enough plays to get us a big win.

Norman is a prideful guy. He heard all the talk and came up with an interception and a forced fumble. This is the Norman I thought we were getting. Could still shore up his coverage a little.

Allen is becoming the leader of this defense. Seeing Norman walk over to him after his INT almost looking for approval and seeing Allen calmly say, "that's what I'm talking about, let's go" said a lot to me. I expect Allen to have a C on his jersey next year.

Hopkins was money and DJ was solid vs. the run.

Its Dalls week. Alex's first Cowboys game. I didn't expect Alex to go beat the Saints in the dome on Drew Brees night, but I do believe with what we gave up, he should be expected to beat the Cowboys at home.

So I was at a sports bar and trying to watch three games at once. I think this team needs to run the ball well and play good defense to win. Don't think Smith is going to carry them. Carolina had over 60 more yards of offense but TOs killed them. Good win though.

Are you talking running/moving speed-wise, cuz if so, not really. I don't think we're slow. I do worry about our physicality, especially in the secondary. Maybe its due to playing more of a prevent type defense in the 2nd half of games we've won.

We really need to figure out this 2nd half stuff. Its great that we're able to build up a lead in the 1st half. This hanging on for dear life in the 2nd half is getting old.

Since I have not read anywhere as of yet, I'm going to say it. Leaving out most of the narrative before hand but here it goes.
Alex Smith is holding the offense back right now. Feet are way too happy for a vet, missing open receivers 10-15 yards down field, releasing the pass way too late in some cases to open receivers, not willing to tuck and run more often when the pocket collapses. It is ALL not on Smith as his protection has been often poor but he doesn't seem to be processing information fast enough or he cannot due to his limited protection time but something about the offense is not right and it starts with Smith. Another game of indecision and it may be Colt time. I'm growing impatient with Smith right now and between him and Gruden, they must get this figured out quickly.
