Each year, a new detail about the Bengals/Palmer split gets mentioned by Carson..... This year it was the 'heated argument' between Palmer and Brown. Clearly things worked out for both sides, but I'm still curious what the feud was about. My pet theory is that Palmer didn't want Marv and all the coaches back..... But maybe that was just me?
He wanted a chance at a ring and thought he would never have a chance in Cincinnati. So he wanted out of a city that had vandals dump trash on his yard, threaten his family, and boo him when he played poorly. I don't necessarily blame him, but on the other hand, he was paid a boat load of money to fulfill a contract. No one forced him to sign an extension early. He could have chose not to sign that contract extension and eventually leave FA because Mike Brown would not have been able to afford him with the franchise tag longer than 2 years. That was Palmer's choice to sign it, as it was his choice to be a baby and retire if he didn't get his way. Brown did the right thing. He didn't let Palmer dictate the time in which he was leaving, and he didn't let him influence his open market value with his threat to get traded or retire. Mike Brown got legit value for a franchise type QB.
