meeeechegan's only 19-8. But that's not Harbaugh's fault. Any of those losses that were to ranked teams don't count. Just ask mNb09. He can explain why.
I'd rather be all offense with no defense than all defense with no offense.
Last night, I saw a replay of the 2004 Music City Bowl for the first time on the B1G Network (Classic Minnesota Game). I actually went to the game and forgot what a great game it really was. Nasty hard-knocking B1G-SEC match-up, like God likes 'em! Thing is, Alabama had a GREAT defense but they just couldn't score with all of the injuries and the Shula-Rader philosophy (which was challenged on a good day).
Wasted a world class defense full of future NFL players like Harper, Anderson, Roach, Peprah, etc. that season. In the 1st quarter, the Tide defense had 3 takeaways but only scored 7 points off of the Gophers (who played salty D themselves). Like I said, GREAT game, but the Tide just could not muster enough offense and lost 20-16 (and 9 of the points were off of a turnover shortened drive and an intentional safety on a punt).
Great win by the Gophers! Barber III and Maroney actually hammered them more than Williams and Brown in the Iron Bowl. Defense still held Minnesota 20 point though. The second half was all defense with the Gophers outscoring Alabama 3-2 after a 17-14 half-time score.
I just hope Oklahoma offense from 2017-9 doesn't ever meet up and mate with Alabama defense from 2004-5. That would be a nasty love child!
