I think what's worse is that he's consistently hitting lead off too. The guy typically (unless Sanchez starts) is the one with the worst on base in the lineup (outside of the pitcher). Not the best way to start the game.

Since June 21st (when Aoki went down and Pagan returned to lead-off and hasn't batted anywhere else)

.246/.277/.285

.250 wOBP, 62 wRC+

Or, more simply, terrible.

I really am in agreement with Bochy in giving the vets every possible opportunity to work through slumps. But when it becomes THIS bad, and when the player does not look like he is slumping, rather just sooo beat up that he cant physically perform, what is the point?

On a related note, the Phillies tried Chase Utley in the leadoff role. He went 2 for 4. Our problems are solved!

Pagan should have been sent to the DL about 3 weeks ago. Hopefully, he can still contribute something after being activated.

Yup.

Without being in the clubhouse or talking to Pagan, everyone here (and pretty much across the Giants blogosphere) was saying he should have gone to the DL the second Aoki got back from his broken leg.
