this was the old thread if you want to look at your old choices from the 1/4 mark.

http://www.sportshoopla.com/forums/...ral-discussion/21488-quarter-mark-awards.html

its 1/4 into the season and Im giving out my awards. what are yours

Jack Adams - Peter Laviolette - 71 pts. no change here. Hes taken a team that barely made the playoffs last year and put them right back in contention to make the Finals again with the goalies he has.

Vezina - Tim Thomas - Pekke Rinne is my runner up but Thomas has been specfuckingtacular for this season

Calder - Jeff Skinner has taken this spot from Couture for me. Hes been amazing at the age of 18 (just named to the All Star team too)

Hart - Sidney Crosby. for 41 games he is 10 games less than Stamkos and only 1 point shy of him. I cant ignore that.

Norris - Dustin Byfuglien and I hates this fraking guy. But man what a season.

Biggest Doofus - Sean Avery - i still think hes a twat..

Biggest Letdown - The Maple Leafs for being at the exact point this year as last year even after making those major trades.

Jack Adams - babcock, hes never won the award which to me is a shame. plus what he is doing this year with the tremendous amount of injuries. and if thats not enough, his hair should put him over the top.

Vezina - Timmy with carey price as my runner up.

Calder - Bobrovsky, had anybody even heard this name before the season started?

Hart - sid... fuck i hate saying that but you gotta respect what hes been able to do.

Norris - Lidstrom.. might be a bit homer but come on, to still be an elite dman in the league, named captain of the allstar team (prolly doesnt mean shit) you gotta give it to him.

Biggest Doofus - sean avery for all the right reasons.

Biggest Letdown - kovalchuk, lame ass.. effed up my whole fantasy season.

Jack Adams - Mark Crawford: Nobody thought Dallas would be a playoff team.

Vezina - Tim Thomas: No one else is close, but the least distant runner-up is, to me, Hiller.

Calder - Skinnerrrrrrr.

Hart - Thomas takes this too. Without his play that team is not in playoff position right now. Crosby is a close second and would be my front runner if not for his injury.

Norris - Shea Weber. No defenseman means more to his club in all three zones of the rink. Close runners-up include Lidstrom (ageless), Letang (dirty diving scumbag, but playing well) and Toby Enstrom (hugely underrated and is the stabilizer for the Thrashers).

Biggest doofus - Colin Campbell. We all knew was a dunce, but we now have a paper trail.

Biggest Letdown - Senators and Devils: playoff aspirations for both have turned to naught in the wake of questionable signings this offseason.

Jack Adams - Barry Trotz: 4th in the West with that roster?

Vezina - TIMMMAHH: playing uncconcious

Calder - Skinner: my homerism wants to say John Carlson, but I love Johnny too much

Hart - Crosby: Depends on how many more games he misses, but if he plays 60+ then it's his

Norris - Byfuglien: but that could change if Atlanta continues to struggle, Maybe Letang? He leads the leaders for the award in +/- by alot......

Biggest Doofus - Rick Rypien: People still remember that? or is that long gone in most peoples minds?

Biggest Letdown: OV/Whole capitals offense. 19 goals for OV and 2.7 GPG for a team who had 3.9 GPG last season....

Quick homer lobby for Couture. Yes Skinner has seven more points but Couture has scored the most goals for San Jose (more than Heatley or Marleau) and he has 6 game winning goals. The kid has been the most consistent player on the team, he's the only reason the Sharks are in the playoff hunt this year.

Ok, I made my homer point. You really can't go wrong with either choice.

Jack Adams: Dave Tippett I don't know how they score goals but they find a way.

Vezina: Tim Thomas This is the easiest award to predict.

Calder: Logan Couture Leads all rookies in goals. I don't think the Sharks would be in 8th without him.

Hart: Tim Thomas I'm going with the most important player to his team pick. Not the best player in the league. Without Thomas the Bruins would be in BIG trouble.

Norris: Dustin Byfuglien Everyone questioned Atlanta when they moved him to defense. He's proven everyone WRONG.

Biggest Doofus: Avery is the easy & obvious choice. Mine is Todd Bertuzzi.

Biggest letdown: The New Jersey Devils of course. They signed Kovalchuk, Volchenkov & Tallinder in the offseason. Nobody could have predicted they would have the worst record in the league going into the All Star Break.

Jack Adams- Crawford. Done wonders there, really developed their team well. Trotz in close 2nd though...they just find ways to win with 'lesser' talent, and that falls on the coach.
Vezina-Thomas. Been best for his team this season.
Calder-Bobrovsky. This is more because I've seen his play more than Coutures. Couture has some great stats though. GWG one is nice.
Hart-Sid. Was playing far too ridiculous through that quarter season span to not win this (unless this injury holds him out too much longer...or he comes back and just plays horribly. He built himself a cushion, and if he returns after the break, he's neck and neck for the scoring lead)
Norris-Lidstrom. To be able to perform as he has, both offensively and defensively, at his age is remarkable, and deserving of another Norris.
Doofus-Hmmm...Avery's too easy. Rypien been mentioned yet? No? Yes? *looks* Yes. Eh, going with it anyway.
Letdown-Devils. Too easy there. After the Kovalchoke contract, to have this type of season? Just painful.
