I missed the 1st quarter, but Landry's been pretty impressive on this drive. His receiver dropped a perfect potential TD pass, and he came back on 3rd down w/ a great TD pass rolling to his right.

LT Lane Johnson did a great job on Demontre Moore on that drive too. Especially on passing plays.

Hey, there are 2 players named Demontre in this game.

I'm not seeing the same dominance from Demontre Moore as I'm used to today. Especially against the run. I think he REALLY wants a sack in what is probably his last college game.

I haven't noticed a single double team (although I haven't seen every play).

Well, this is quickly becoming a blow out. A&M is now up 3 scores.

OU finally had a good drive going, and then they commit a holding penalty on 3rd down. Couldn't convert after that. Going for it on 4th & 13: Delay of game. Wow.

They'll punt now.

Manziel got the Cotton Bowl record for total yards with just under 20 minutes left in the game.

Manzel is like Russell Wilson was a couple of weeks ago. He's a pain in the ass to bring down. You can't just pin your ears back & go after him.

Kudos to OU's OLT Lane Johnson for a great game against a monster DE.

The rest of the team: not so much.

I wish I would have taken more opportunities to watch Manzel. How do you guys think his game will transfer to the NFL?

I don't think he'll be much of a pro' prospect.

I also think he's going to fall back down to earth when he doesn't have Luke Joekel & Jake Mathews blocking for him.

That's already a better tackle tandem than a lot of pro' QBs have.

He's got time to hone his passing skills. He is already a decent passer, but sadly he is too short and small.

He didn't seem that small in the highlights, but that's all I've heard so maybe it was deceptive. First time I'd seen him at all......Russell Wilson does seem like a good comp. Crazy highlights from that game, incredibly impressive.

Anyway, they said he's a better baseball player than football player (!?!!), so maybe that'll be where he ends up.

Wait....now that I look he's 6'1, 190? Nothing wrong with that. That size won't stop him from playing in the NFL, given that he'll still grow a bit......especially as Wilson and Brees are shredding old biases against smaller QBs.

He's also losing his OC to Texas Tech which I could see leading to his production taking a hit as well.

He's more like 6'0" (if that), but I agree with you. He's a still a freshmen, his body type could change by then. Hard to judge him either way right now.

Reading a bit of background about him, a good (if a bit worshipful) piece from when he was in high school:

Johnny Manziel is already a Texas legend - MaxPreps News

"We faced Matt Stafford (No. 1 NFL draft pick by the Detroit Lions) when I was at Stephenville and Johnny is a lot tougher to deal with.........He's Brett Favre on a motorcycle."

Neal LaHue of Roosevelt (San Antonio) coached Drew Brees in high school.

Comparing the two, LaHue said, "At this point in their careers, Johnny is a more explosive athlete and faster. He has Michael Vick-type speed. He's not just an athlete – he's a quarterback. They are two different types. Drew moved around, but he wasn't the runner that Johnny is.

Manziel carries an 8 or 10 handicap in golf, even though he rarely has time to play.

Sheesh. No doubt its easy to get carried away with this stuff, but sounds like these coaches have seen the best come through, and Manziel is at least comparable.

The worshipful part of it sounds like it could easily turn into a Chuck Norris type of thing, coming from the Brett Favre on a bicycle and the 8-10 handicap in golf.

Well, it should be interesting to see how he handles life without those guys then. Beating Alabama as a true Freshmen is impressive enough for me to think the kid has some potential, but there is still lots of time to evaluate him i suppose.
