Metheny is just fucking unreal. I want to go see the Pat Metheny Unity Band in October here in CT. Fucking 85 bucks, but I think I am going to cough it up.

This is a cool band I came across earlier. They have an awesome East meets West smooth jazz sound.

If you can go, go. I saw Metheny in Vancouver in '95. It was EASILY the best sound at a concert I'd ever heard.

Looking forward to seeing what people suggest, as I love jazz especially on vinyl. Throw on some jazz, pour some scotch and kick back.

Loaded my Metheny catalog on my phone for work today. Speaking of Now is so fucking awesome.

If you guys haven't heard the Unity Band album, do it.

Also a suggestion for any of you who like a more rock oriented jazz sound, check out OHMphrey. Members of OHM and Umphrey's McGee. They have two albums, both great, however the S/T is much better than Posthaste.

my vinyl player doesnt really kick out the loud surround sound on my receiver but it gives that great crackling sound that I love. I have some Miles Davis and Louis Armstrong on vinyl. I may listen to it tonight :D

Weather Report - Mysterious Traveller:

Proof that you don't need flurries of 32nd notes to make incredible sounding jazz fusion; Josef Zawinul is a fucking genius.

/not that I'm against the occasional flurry of 32nd notes.

Hiroshima are pretty cool. If you're into that east-west sound you might want to check out some stellar Japanese/American/French/English fusion; Kazumi Watanabe - Kilowatt

Kaz - guitar
Bunny Brunel - bass
John Wackerman - drums
Patrick Moraz (Yes, U.K) - keyboards

Just some amazing guitar work happening as well as Jaco style bass. One of the best kept secrets CD's in jazz fusion history.

It's cute when people pretend they actually listen to jazz

Respect it? Sure.
Appreciate it? Sure.
Like it? Sure, sometimes.

But like it in a sense that will put it on softy in the background at a cocktail party or other gathering that is enhanced by background music. On toss it on while cleaning the house.:washing:

You know DAMN well you aren't commuting home or mowing the lawn or other and jamming to it on your ipod.
:)

I keeed I keeeeed, i know I sometimes sit around wrestling with decisions of whether I am in a Mastadon or Metheny mood.
