OT: Shaving the way - to conquer kids’ cancer

I know guys like eloco are gonna say "bald? really? What's the big whoop?"
But I really like my hair, this is gonna be painful.

I'm shaving my head in solidarity with children who have cancer and typically lose their hair during treatment, while raising critical funds for childhood cancer research!

In the US, more children die of childhood cancer than any other disease. Please make a donation on my behalf to support childhood cancer research so that all children diagnosed with cancer will have a better chance for a cure.

The St. Baldrick’s Foundation is a volunteer-driven charity committed to funding the most promising research to find cures for childhood cancers and give survivors long and healthy lives.

In 2010 alone, they gave over $14 million – that’s more in grants for childhood cancer research than any other organization except the U.S. government. And all because nearly 38,000 people shaved their heads!

We've done this in the past to support women with cancer with 2 of my boys growing out their hair for wigs.

yeah, bunch of 'Canes are doing it as well. Pretty sure it's league wide.
Last game, our resident homer troll Tripp Tracey (also a huge advocate of this program who will be shaving live during the second intermission of the Rangers game), mentioned that he wondered if Cam Ward was the first St. Baldrick's participant to play in an all star game. lol.


Those guys don't have to walk into a corporate buttoned up world on Wednesday morning though.
That part ought to be interesting. lol

oh, and if anyone is wondering why I'm pushing this...

I don't win anything for this. Nothing. There is no bonus for amount raised. No prizes or boxes of cookies for the winner. No bonus luxury box seats from the 'Canes. No meet and greets with the players. No raffle for the ones who raise the most.
Nothing.

Well, they are giving tickets to that nights game to whoever participates, but I have season tix and already have tickets to that game, so no biggie.

It's simply to raise funds for Children's Cancer research.
