Bossman you'll be missed
Donna Summer, whose powerhouse voice helped define the disco era in the late '70s, died today after a cancer battle, TMZ reports.
Summer, 63, topped the pop charts with songs such as “Hot Stuff,” “Bad Girls” and “MacArthur Park,” and she famously transitioned to the MTV era in the 1980s with the comeback hit “She Works Hard For the Money.” They were among 20 Summer singles to reach the top 40 of Billboard's pop chart.
Summer's music, largely groomed by super-producer Giorgio Moroder, helped propel disco to the mainstream, while her pioneering 12-inch singles became staples in the arsenals of DJs around the globe, ultimately helping shape the house music revolution that followed.
TMZ reports that Summer died in Florida, and that she had tried to keep the extent of her cancer off the public radar.
