Travis Wood, rookie pitcher for the Reds is perfect thru 8 innings against the Phillies. Scoreless game, Halladay is on the mound for the Phils.

MLB Network is airing it if anyone is interested. What a year for pitchers so far.

And Jim Joyce is nowhere to be found......

If the game goes past 9innings and he gives up a hit in the 10th does he still get a perfect game?

No. A perfect game is pitching a game from beginning to end, allowing no hits, walks, or errors (or, more simply, retiring every batter faced) over that span.

If he were to pitch into the tenth, with the perfect game intact, and then gave up a hit, walk, error, or reach on strikeout, he would lose his perfect game. However, if another pitcher came in at any point in the game, and the tandem of pitchers in the game threw a perfect game, it would go in the books as a perfect game by committee with every pitcher's name on the list.
