Watch out, Dash. She's slowly working her way up to Canada.

Sleep with one eye open.

Moving back? Can't imagine living there in first place, much less moving back?

Michigan is always home to those who have been born here. Beautiful state. Loyal sports fans. Most outsiders see "Michigan" and think "Detroit". Too bad.

It's the shitty politicians that force us to leave, but we always long to go home. This thread is a case in point.

Other than Detroit and the immediate area, every place I've been to up there, I've enjoyed. Both the MI (northish part) and Canadian sides of Lake St Clair are wonderful.

But don't tell anyone. They will take away my buckeye card. I know Higgy's wanted to go back for a while, and I am just joshing a bit. I am glad for her and Mr Higgy (who I understand is the Tigers' Manager). You can't put a price on being happy where you live.

And I certainly understand feeling the need to leave a place you grew up. What I can't fathom is ever going back. But that's more to do with where I left and where I landed. Couldn't pay me enough to even consider going back. I am very happy with the midwest. I have three neighbors who all grew up here, went somewhere else, and came back. They all went east and hated it.

The midwest is the best to live, honestly. And yes I consider my hometown to be far more midwest than eastern. Where did you grow up? B-more region? I know you've talked about that.

I now present something I like to call - "how to offend two states at once."

Ohio = Michigan

Nahhhhhh. Michigan is my second favorite state in the union (the first favorite being western PA...because we can't lump in the WHOLE state, right? :nod:) and Ohio is further down the list. However, that's mostly because I hate driving through it, besides Columbus and it's fantastic rest stops. Seriously though, I just love Michigan. Anyone who says otherwise hasn't been there in the summer. Northern MI in the summer? The. Best.

You might be on to something. Both are really nice places dragged down by a few really terrible cities.

I still laugh about the fact that the whole "rivalry" is over Toledo.

Born in Baltimore, grew up in Harford county (Northeast 'burbs), and worked downtown for years. Would be a much better place to live if less that 275 ka-jillion people lived there and got on the highways to test their brakes all the got-damned time.

I made it back early Friday morning. It's just been a whirlwind of visiting with family and friends. Seems like this is the first break I've gotten since I have been back in town.

It's wonderful being back. Michigan is awesome and I will never, EVER leave here again.

Agree, I lived there for years and if you like boating, fishing, and snow freezing wet snowy...forget it I'm staying here . Hit 70s today. And yesterday. And tomorrow....
