With all the death talk on this board I figured I'd mention how great this game is. I highly recommend it to anybody with a lot of free time on their hands or anybody willing to sacrifice their social life for a bit.

yeah I was wondering on this one. what is it more like in terms of play?

Red Dead Redemption style play (I dont mean visually) or
Grand Theft Auto? I found Grand Theft a bit much

A lot less violence than GTA a lot more problem solving and detective work. If you're looking for a shoot em up type of game this is not for you (although there is enough of that in here). Much more a thinkers game than the usual video game, slower paced than most, but very addicting if you're into solving puzzles and stuff like that.

So you have started playing it and like it? Did you play Heavy Rain? Is it similar to that?

I have it but haven't started it yet. I have it for PS3 and I was kind of waiting until their store is back up so I could download the pre-order bonus cases.

Have not played Heavy Rain. If you enjoy the GTA games you should enjoy this although it is much more of an adult game. A lot more thinking involved, looking for clues, connecting the dots, thinking outside the box. I find it very addicting but I'm big on crime.

Me too, it sounds really cool. Maybe I'll start later.

Very cool game. I guess I am halfway through and really enjoying it. It looks fantastic too. I love the LA of '46 they built. I have just been promoted to homicide so the crimes are getting more interesting. I would have been further along but my PS3 died and I had to start the game over.

In some ways it is very similar to Heavy Rain, though better. So if you liked this you may like that. A big emphasis on story.

Did any of you play Mafia II? I did, and I'd like to know how they compare.

I did, in some ways it is similar in some ways its not. Its similar because even though its a big city you do not wander around a whole lot. You have set places to go.

Mafia II is a lot more action oriented than LA Noire. In LA Noire the emphasis is more on piecing together clues, interrogation, and solving the case.

I really enjoyed the old PC game Mafia. I thought it was funny in Mafia II that one of the jobs was killing the main character from the first game.
