I was listening to some station on AM radio today, and they were talking to some guy from Japan about how things are going after the tragedy struck.

He told a story about a great big fire in the forest and this little humming bird kept going back and forth from the forest to the lake to get water to put out the fire. A bear stopped the humming bird and asked him what he thinks he is trying to do? The humming bird said, "As much as I can."

He said that is the attitude of the Japanese people during this whole thing.

I lived in Japan during the Niigata earthquake of 2004. Not on the same scale, but similar damage (broken roads, etc...). I was in a McDonald's when the quake struck. It wasn't very violent, but more of a very pronounced swaying. Like the restaurant was a boat on very very big waves. Blew my mind.

Anyway, I was amazed at how prepared everyone in Japan was. The response was great. During the year, there were frequently mini quakes, and the students knew immediately what to do. If this was just natural disaster, I'd trust the Japanese to deal with it better than anyone, but this nuclear stuff worries me. I still have friends over there.

So you mean to tell me no one has claimed that the cars make a Japanese symbol that yields an ominous sign or something like that?

If you tilt your head to the left you can see an image of Jesus. Or is it Abraham Lincoln? They kinda look alike.

That video is unreal. Think about all the unfortunate people on the ground who had no idea what was happening.
