So went to the rink with little man today to skate around a bit

It may be time for me to invest in some new wheels

Currently using an older pair of Missions, I like them, but they are very stiff.
In my old age it seems my feet have flattened out or something, and the boot is killing me. Especially the right foot which might be wider than the left or something, as the outside of the foot and pinky toe are just painful after a while. I did notice the last pair of shies I bought was a 10.5 when I've worn 10's since high school.

Don't want to spend a ton o'money, looking for something with a more flexible boot, maybe a little wider, and not as stiff.

Any recommendations of what I should look at? $>250.00 preferably

Are the Vapor 4.0 on the stiff side or not?
What about the Reeboks?

Will probably head out tomorrow and try some stuff on.

I have Reebok 5Ks with the pump and I really like them. I think Graf skates are also very good.

Too bad you're not a size 10 anymore. I would offer to sell you my CCM U-09 skates I bought 2 years ago for a good price (paid $300).

I was an Easton man up until last season when I picked up a practically brand new pair of these:
Bauer Vapor X 4.0 Senior Ice Hockey Skates
at the equipment swap. Super light, nice fit but pretty stiff uppers (which I like).

I have Bauer Custom Supreme 3000's I bought in 1992 - my feet haven't grown since then. I may request to be buried with those things.

thanks for the help all
went and tried on a bunch this weekend
Good thing too, my feet def changed sizes, went with a 9.5 boot

picked these baby's up today

Reebok 14K's
Was gonna go with the 12K's, but they got me with the lace lock... and other interior differences of course, but the lace lock was cool. I have a hard time keeping the damn things tight as I lace up so that is a mega-bonus for me. :)

Plus - had them both on at the same time, one on each foot, and could feel the difference in the boot itself.
Figured there would be no difference, but damn glad I did it, cuz it was noticeable.

Felt good.
Me likey.

Obviously you figured it out but, Missions are extremely weird boots. I stay away from them. Some people love them and how they conform to their feet. I think it just matters on the shape of your foot.

Missions are a different breed. If you like them then youll be a fan for life. If not, it is never worth trying another pair as they all feel the same IMO. I had a roller and ice skate in mission. Didn't like either.

I use CCM everything pretty much nowadays.

Bauer may be the best choice for you. I'd go to a shop and try on a few first.
