Teams are definitely calling on Johnson, as he brings an offensive punch and has improved his defensive play in recent games. While Johnson remains a fan favorite and has heavy supporters in the organization, the 29 year old left handed defenseman is not a piece of the team’s young core moving forward.
GAMES? They base their value on that? Low standards in Columbus hasn't changed I see. But the paragraph itself is telling because he was acquired 4 years ago to anchor the defense.
Been a tough few years for him, and as much as I rail on the guy I hope he gets something positive going in his professional and financial life because I can see this guy jumping off a cliff in a few years. Propped up his whole life, helicopter parents, hype coming into the NHL yet nothing worked out the way he probably thought it would. He's an average/below average NHL defender with no money.
That said, Carter + 2 Cups > Johnson and BK. Dumbo pulled a massive coup with that trade that is still paying dividends and was voted by ESPN as the best deadline deal of the last 5 years.
