Have you guys heard this?

PARIS, France - President Nicolas Sarkozy, in a surprise move, surrendered today to Libyan forces. "We can no longer take the intolerable pounding," President Sarkozy said to a shocked nation. "I will not let my people suffer needlessly any longer."

This speech came just mere hours after Moammer Gadhafi ordered his troops to fire their pistols at French Mirage jets. The terms of surrender have not yet been officially released.

Not questioning you, but .....

WHERE THE FUCK DO REBELS GET JETS?

In the very beginning of this, Gadhafi had instructed his air force to bomb his own people. Some of the pilots did not agree with this and had defected. More recently some pilots had also joined the fight against Gadhafi.

Good point, HNF. I wonder how hard it would be for the Libyan forces to fuck with some of the guidance systems on that jet (or others)?

Look like NATO and the West is getting itself into another shitstorm if you ask me.

you can almost guarantee that there are special operations units (US SF?British SAS?) on the ground verifying and lasing targets for the Tomahawk cruise missiles. Libyan rebels are not trained or have the capabilities to provide support for coalition air strikes.

In my opinion, I think that jet was part of Gadhafi's Air Force and not the rebels, and it was shot down over Benghazi, while the rebels were getting bombed from the air. Libyan government was the first to claim it was a rebel jet, there was no confirmation that it was a jet from the anti-Gadhafi side. I think that they are lying to hide the fact that they are not abiding the no-fly zones and the cease fire which have been implemented.

Without a doubt. You must have eyes on the ground before you do anything else.

Yeah... I kind of thought that right away too. Which goes back t omy first comment in this thread.

Either way this is another MAJOR problem for the world to deal with.

I hope there is some JOINT leadership in the international community that can deal with this.

As long as we don't try to stick around to help stabilize a government transition (i.e. sticking a puppet in there), I don't care.
If we start putting in some major ground troop numbers, I might get a little concerned.
