I know some of us might occasionally go over there for random reasons, mainly Masochism, but don't.

I just followed a link there looking for more info on the Nick Foligno story, and my system alerted on malware being served by one of the ads there. I don't know how long it's been doing it, I am on my old laptop without ad blocker enabled.

Me, being me, I went to it with a virtual machine and let it download and execute. Looks like a ransom ware thing. The kind of thing that locks your files and asks you to pay to get them back.

If you use an ad blocker or noscript, you might be fine. Like I said, I was on an old system with no real protections other than the fact that it is a Linux machine that screams when windows apps try to launch.

A couple weeks ago. I was checking some nfl picks on a picksheet (won it that week) and something from "Microsoft" came up saying my computer is on lockdown.

Anyways did a hard reboot and everything was fine

I guess I was just wondering why you decided it was even necessary to try to do that. I'm sorry if I caused a problem here, but I didn't think a joke (and it was a joke rather than criticism, in case there's any confusion) that implied something about Internet pron surfing was crossing a line on this board. But I believe that you weren't looking at a pron site when you got those popups.

So, the follow up is it was a single poisoned ad hosted on googleadservices. It passed crypto locker. The ad doesn't seem to be around anymore.

Could have happened anywhere that served ads from googleadservices.

Out of curiosity is there some explanation as to why that keeps happening to the Haywards? Because when it happens on 3 occasions that are years apart I think you have to start to wonder if they're just trying to get out of paying for their skin flicks, no matter how old and nice they seem.
