On a somewhat related note, a couple years ago I was at a Subway and the cashier wouldn't take a penny because it was Canadian. I wish I was joking about that.

A couple months after they introduced the Sacagawea $1 coins, I went to pay with them at Mighty Taco and was told they don't accept Canadian money.

When I pointed out that they were US dollars, the girls turned to the manager and asked "do we accept these?"

I wish I was joking.

Pretty sure one of the major reasons that Canada is dumping the penny is the fact that it costs 1.6 cents to make...
