2 suspects in custody.
Three pressure cooker bombs (similar to Boston) , Canadian born, living in surrey, arrested in Abbotsford
Bombs were supposed to go off yesterday at the parliament buildings

Western names, so no race-war in surrey today
Scary shit

Jesus, that's messed up. Glad they foiled it before something happened.

I keep thinking that rising levels of terrorism is the price we pay for a world largely* at peace.

Damn ! Glad they didn't go off and they caught the bastards. I hate to say it but this can be a fucked up world at times.

Edit: puck, did they not go off because of a malfunction or what?

Is it anarchists? They generally wait for championships and other large sporting events, maybe they don't have faith in the Canucks this season.

Seriously though, wtf people?

Of all the things I hate about our media, its the fact that if it doesn't 1) Bleed or 2) happen here in the US then its not news

This could have been really bad with the tens of thousands of people partaking in Canada Day celebrations around the legislature/inner harbour area. :thumb: to the RCMP.

Schedule is very clear next week. Let's figure something out, I'll shoot ya a PM.

I just realized this was probably not the best phrasing in a thread about Canadian domestic terrorism.

Given that I've previously said bad things about Crosby, I'm now #8 on Canada's most wanted list.

Sorry... I love Canada! :mapleleaf:

As long as you don't bad mouth Tim Horton's or Canadian beer you'll be OK.

News stories today have all been the Zimmerman trial. While certainly an important trial in our current society, for fuck's sake, terrorist shit is bad when it happens in places other than us. We should probably know about it.

puck, did they not go off because of a malfunction or what?
from the news story I saw, the suspects were under surveillance for several months.
so when they built the bombs, the rcmp had replaced the trigger devices with non-working components immediately.
but they had to wait until they actually carried through their plan to charge them with the most serious offenses.

Police said the threat was real but at no time was the public at risk, as the threat was detected early and disrupted. Police added they were in tight control as the devices were constructed.

And not a word (that I can find at least) on any of the major US news sources.

the above quote is from here: Alleged Canada Day bomb plot targeted B.C. legislature - British Columbia - CBC News

glad this plot was foiled ... and on the bold ... you just know it would have happened if the bombs exploded and the perps were middle eastern

tangent but witnessed something offputting canada day night

Kelowna had a big festival and they had a main stage with musical acts. headliners were a band called digiTAL ... kinda hip hop mostly bangra ... dubbed the only punjabi band in north america :noidea:

i think alot of people were disappointed it wasnt a band with name recognition but they did a good job. I guess the theme was celebrating the many cultures in canada so they had alot of other ethnic bands along with the local bar band playing covers (covering lumineers songs already??? lol)

anyhoo ... kelowna ... slightly red-assed town ... some dude yells out "HEY THIS IS FUCKIN CANADA DAY NOT AL QAEDA DAY" after they finish a song :L just ugly stuff
