Check out this Web site trying to appeal to the variety of uses batteries can have in Philly.

I can't figure out if it's just a move to garner attention, or a Philly fan being glib, or an opposing fan joning, but it's pretty funny.

Text from the listing:

Gotta love Philly fans!

Great to power your devices, or power your passion for athletics!

For most of us, this is simply a great opportunity to stock up on some rechargeable batteries to power our electronics and other stuff. But for our users in Philadelphia, it's something so much more.

See, Phillies season is in full swing, and the Eagles will be taking the field soon enough. You know what that means? There are a lot of opposing teams coming through town, so it's time to stock up on some stuff to heave at them!

Now, you might be thinking, why rechargeable batteries? Why not the cheapest, crappiest batteries you can find? As long as they're hard and hurt when they make contact, right?

Well, that's where you're wrong! Throwing any lame batteries shows them that you're angry. Throwing rechargeable batteries shows that you've taken your rage to a whole new level! You're sending a message to that opposing players; you're saying, "I could've recharged these things 100s of times and kept using them over and over, but instead, I chose to forgo practicality and employ them only once, for the purpose of pelting you. Such is my hatred for your team!"

Honestly, it's what they deserve. Seriously! How dare THEY come to YOUR stadium for a SCHEDULED game! THE NERVE!

haha Rep later..

:L Maaan....that incident happened back in the 60's. What's it going to take to get folks to drop it already??

Besides....Dick Allen wore a batting helmet all the time after the first onslaught/pelting, so what's the big deal?? :becky:

I don't even associate batteries with Philly fans. Santa, tazers maybe.

Batteries make me think of Derek Jeter.

NEVER!!!! :playball::boink::boink:

It will live on forever, like the Sly Rangers references.
It may not surface for a while.... but we all know it's there.. lurking.. waiting... picking it's spot..

Hey Tox...

you'd appreciate this

so we're on the computer looking at 2012-2013 (hopefully) NHL schedules
planning to maybe go visit lil Bizzles Uncle in Boston sometime this year, maybe catch a game at the Gahden while there...

What does he want to know, you ask???

When the fucking FLYERS are there, maybe we can go then.

Lol. I like the last one. The good 'ole' Veteran's Stadium. That place was a shithole, much like Three River Stadium. Putting in a jail was probably the smartest thing ever. You would think that the Raiders, Browns, and other teams would have thought of this as well. I can think of some of my experiences from the Eagles games I attended back on the day that did not make this list. The 700 level was a dangerous place to watch the game if 1) you wore a Cowboys hat, shirt, or any symbol that resembled a star 2) same as 1 but any Giants gear, and so on. Nice list Tox.

I always think of 10 cent beer night with Cleveland.

Disco demolition night is another good one. That was Chicago IIRC.
