:frown: but he's certainly knocking on the door. I hear Federer is pretty good.

Milos should have won. He was the better player all day and had 8 break points (Fed had 2). Milos also won more total points. He just needs to learn to be more clutch.

Still, Milos the best prospect in tennis. He just needs to stop having lapses in concentration and identify the drop shot better. If he makes both of those changes, he'll be a top 8 player by the end of next year.

Nice, thanks for the recap of the match.

Yes, Milos should have won today. The experience of Feds was why he didn't.

Still, this is a second great effort vs the best of all time. Playing on dead Smurfs as well.

Milos-related news - Daniel Nestor to play doubles with BC boy Vasek Pospisil at the London Olympics. Let Milos focus on singles action, while Nestor and Pospisil have a chance at bringing home a medal for Canada.

I'm not sure about choosing Vashy over Milos. He's been in really bad form recently, and the amount of unforced errors in his game really seem to be catching up to him. He misses way too many returns of serve and his first serve percentage is way down. Nestor might be the best doubles player in the world, and I feel like you guys are sacrificing a likely medal for a slight chance at a singles medal (no offense to Milos).

the chemistry at Davis cup between Milos and Nestor wasnt good ... I think Pospisil, as a younger guy, can be more deferential and Nestor can have the confidence to tell him what to do as a doubles partner ... They were lights out as a duo when they played together against israel

At the French, we'll get a good idea at how good Milos can be on clay. He should beat Levine, but then he gets Monaco in the third. If he can handle a solid clay courter like him, it's a sign that he is well on his way to being an elite all court player and should give him a lot of momentum going towards Wimbledon. A loss would have to be very demoralizing.

It all depends on the serve. If Vashy can't serve above 60% on the first serves, the top doubles team will break them easily. In singles, he hasn't served above that rate at all this year, and has often been under 50%. All the chemistry in the world can't overcome numbers like that.

2nd round opponent Jesse Levine, from Nepean Ontario (though playing as an American)
I doubt two Cdn's have ever met past the first round in an open before.

asterisks on both sides though:
Levine born in Canada, plays as an American.
Raonic plays as a Canadian, but was born in Yugoslavia

He has already proven he can handle clay just fine. He destroyed Almagro, a clay court specialist, in a tourney a month ago.

In related tennis news, Serena got upset by an Italian in the 3rd round.

American players just don't like clay.

Milos rolls through Jesse Levine in straight sets. Faces 13 Juan Monaco, a clay court specialist, in the 3rd round.

Pretty good match between Milos and Monaco being played right now - Milos won the 3rd set in a tiebreaker (7-5) to take a 2-1 set lead.

seems to be running out of steam in the 5th.

sooo many unforced errors though. 86 by Milos to 37 for the other guy at this point.
needs to clean that shit up against higher seeds.
winner of this gets stepped on by Nadal next round.
