On the one hand, she lost to a higher ranked player. On the other hand, she beat the #2 seed 24 hours ago (and a top 100 player). Has to be disappointing especially in her home town tourney, but she's had a great year.

Want to know something crazy? 1 year ago I was asked to be a hitting partner at Van Open. I hadn’t told anyone, but I was thinking of returning to tennis. For me the tournament was a gauge to see how comfortable I was being around a professional tournament. I was nervous and scared about the idea of playing again, but decided to give myself the chance to think about it. By the end of the week I decided to commit myself 100%, and return to tennis. .

To say playing in the tournament this past week was special would be an understatement. I’m so very grateful to be back playing, and to have the chance to play in front of family and friends was incredible. For some it was the first time seeing me compete (ever!), and for others it had been over 5 years. So thank you to everyone for your support, it was very full circle to have played the tournament this year. A very special week that I won’t forget any time soon

Edit: My mistake, Felix was actually up 5-2 and Denis won five straight games.

At this point, unless it's completely covered by someone or it's box seats fully catered, I have zero reason to go to sports events. Spend money to get there and get in, spend a shit ton just to not have an empty stomach and get a drink or two, watch your favourite player leave in free agency because of cheap ownership or the stupid motherfucking salary cap.
