I'd be in favor of pushing the deadline back in that case. Two months after the hard cut off deadline is a long time, especially if you're a team that could still go either way.

Also not sure what problem this is solving. Were there people/teams who had legit issues with having two deadlines beyond just it was a little difficult to understand at first?

I suspect that players hated the uncertainty.

Hate it. If they were going to do this, at least split the difference and put the deadline in the middle of August.

From what I read, this is a stake in the ground that's likely to be moved once they get a feel for it. Maybe in 2 years, it will go to the 15th of August. I don't think anyone is quite sure what the effects are now but it was done to stabilize morale in the clubhouses.

These guys are still human and have families. August is reportedly absolute hell on them not knowing where their kids will be living in the coming weeks.

Just because they make millions doesn’t mean they (and their families) don’t deserve at least a bit of consistancy.

No idea why they need to only do one. It’s lik Manfred despises baseball. The non waiver deadline is fine but the non waiver deadline also helps smaller market teams to get rid of contracts, there is a better gauge on if you are in it and finally it is for getting trying to put the best product on the field for the playoffs. Having one deadline I feel is going to only lead to more tanking of teams.
