However, in a crazy like a fox way, by handling him how they did, they are going to end up paying him 1/2 of what they did last year AT MOST, meaning he will need to reach most of the insentives built into his contract to make $ 4.5 mil, or half of what he got last year.

By the way, what was Leyland thinking putting Rondon into a high leverage 8th inning spot against the heart of the KC order in his first appearance? Verlander did not have his best stuff, but 96 pitches is child's play for him. Chalk that loss to poor management.

I think Verlander had torn a piece of skin on his finger and was having a problem.

I did not realize that. Still, was Benoit available? Or anybody else besides Rondon or Coke? What ever happened to earning your way into high leverage situations? Rondon was a human fire starter during spring training.
